Re: New Theme bugs
Reply #30 on: July 14, 2016, 09:10:24 PM
Selectable search is a mod, it's on my todo list as it does not install cleanly on this theme due to it's custom nature therefore requires me to dig a little deeper to get it working.

Is there a reason that when you select 'Replies' it does this?

its at 2560 x 1440

no idea, please send me your setup so I can further test it.  >:D I do not have this problem on 1920x1080

How much do you need?  >:D

Is there simply timeline? I don't like unread as then I loose new posts if read once already. Maybe I am just slow that I go back to threads already read.

I see the problem, in line 34, 4th word, it should be changed to d, and all will be sorted.

Avatar spacing issue has been fixed, for my phone at least. Once I removed Signatures, the forum is readable again. Still a bit more white space than I like, but still good. Thanks Whooey!

This is the desktop site.  And the mobile site.  There is no longer a distinction in the site format, it just provides all of the info and your browser organizes it the most optimal way it can.

Many of the problems we are encountering is due to the vast array of devices, browsers and sizes, and how they all interpret the new info.  It takes time to optimize it for each size, device and browser, which is exactly what Micah is trying to sort out now.

I'm not complaining, to be honest though, I liked the previous format just fine in its simplicity. I know there's tweaking still going on and I trust Whoey and the rest of you cyber-gurus will get things fine-tuned eventually  :salute:

No quick reply, again.

Too much white, harsh on the eyes indeed. Maybe make a couple of colour schemes available to choose from?

Avatars are kind of big but generally pleasant. I think the online/offline indicator should be moved before the username. Multiple quotes look better now  :tu:

I liked the two different colour tones separating the posts. Sig area attracts attention from post and personal text gets lost in there somewhere. Also, personal text beneath the avatar is gone?

Post count is nice, at least keep the ranking?

I was beginning to like the Like function but I can live without it.

Tx. I was looking more like thread list at time oder. Like unread and replies shortcuts at the top but simply threads listed without filters if I replied or have read messages.

Oh, one other thing. I think the little button you click to read to the last post in a thread could do with a bigger size or something to make it stand out. I am inclined to click on the username but that's just me

Is there a reason that when you select 'Replies' it does this?

its at 2560 x 1440

(Image removed from quote.)

Comparing the "Unread" link with the "Replies" link, the latter is missing the width = 100% on the table. To be perfectly clear, there's the div#unreadreplies with a table.table_grid immediately underneath it. I think that table needs width = 100%, adding it makes things look better.. (Here's a screenshot showing what it looks like with the width added.)

I think the new theme is cool. Sure, there's some problems here and there, but I don't want to pile on. I'm sure redoing this whole site was a gargantuan effort. Hopefully this helps.

I can't figure out how to see signatures anymore. I don't have the option to hide them selected, but I don't se any

I do really like the new layout. Much better than the old mobile site, IMO. and much faster than forcing to the desktop site on my phone.

I changed back to the old theme for the time being, it was much clearer (for me), especially on my mobile phone :salute:

:o I find the old theme terrible to navigate on my phone, less so on my tablet, but it's crazy high resolution... The new one is much easier and loads much faster for everything I've tried it with so far...

Another design suggestion when looking at the threads.

The signature/badge area is gray. Because of that, it has a good bit of contrast with the background of the page, and thus more emphasis than the actual post. So it draws the eye a lot. Typically it would be better to have the post have more emphasis, or at least, not have the badge/signature area stand out so much.

That's a good point. I'm finding my eyes hunt around more for the actual post content amongst the post headers, footers, quotes etc. than with the old layout.

Apart from certain people being nutless, though, :D it's not really the same.

Not many people know what the little nuts stand for, I suppose, or how many of them for which "rank". Maybe the nuts would be more visible if they were placed under the avatar.

I always liked the self-sarcastic titles such as No Life Club etc. (Abandon all hope ye who enter here  ).

Oh, well. If I had to pick just one thing bugging me, that would be hunting around for the actual post in all the visual info.  :)

That makes it much more readable.  Major improvement!  The too white look was really hard on the eyes.   Now I can read it at least.  The only other thing Id comment on is that is it necessary to have the forum icons so large.  It feels like how windows 8 felt wrong because it was designed for tablets and standard PC but used the same feel on both.  It feels touch screen centric vs standard mouse.
