Badge request? Paracord Lanyard for SAKs etc
on: July 15, 2016, 01:54:33 AM
Here is a very simple little lanyard, that lets you have a decent length of cord with you in a small package. The simple slip knot!

Slip the cord through the ring/bale etc (I'm using about 55-56 inches)

Loop over and snug down

Tie the first slip knot, try to keep the cords straight through the slip knots.

Repeat until you only have a few inches remaining

After the last knot, slip the ends through the loop, and snug it up.

Tie a simple overhand to finish it off, and you end up with a lanyard that shrinks 56" of paracord into a lanyard not much longer than a 111mm SAK.

Lastly, go through and straighten the knots out, and you are done!

Does this work for the badge?

Very nice! This is one of the coolest badges, as it rewards teaching. I'll have to try this one sometime, so thank you!
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Thanks guys!
I forgot to mention that if you untie the overhand, and pull the ends back out of the last loop.... pulling on the end unties the whole thing. Its a useful way to store ropes sometimes too!

I've always called that a "Contractor's Hitch"...a tangle free way to store long extension cords. Used to use it for lanyards too but stopped using it for some unremebered reason.
