Tonight was the perfect opportunity to open a can of white chicken - to feed to a semi-reclusive cat that lives underneath my trailer.

The odd thing about this cat is it knows when I'm usually am home, and when I'm coming home it's like waiting for me. Yet it's never come up to me. Close we've ever been is 10 feet, though it had gone underneath my car while I was sitting inside. I feel bad for the critter as there aren't many squirrels to eat and the mice population is non-existent. Now of only cats would eat the fruit flies too...  :ahhh

Anyhow, back to the Flair. Every can opener has it's own style. At one time I liked the earlier models of the Leatherman can openers, then MTO :assimilate: into getting a SAK, a Climber in fact. I'm been hooked on the push can opener and wished I could put them in my Leatherman tools too. So I've been enlightened on can openers and have been using a push type can opener for the past few years. Then I got an unusual, unexpected surprise. Though the Flair does not have a clean smooth edge like a SAK's it is also superior to the common Leatherman can opener.

What type is it? To me I would say it is a short punch. It punched down nearly effortlessly and it does a great job at it. If only I'd of had this can opener sooner. Still prefer the SAK types that push to open cans and they are fast and leave a smooth edge that's hard to catch a splinter or cut from - unlike Leatherman and countless of other common can opener types.

This is the can edge it leaves behind. I'd say this is about as fast as the SAK version since it's movements are minimal and it's quick!

Cooked chicken in the silicone liner. It tasted a lot different without Pam cooking spray in there. Wonder why that is?

Bought some shiny metal tape at Home Depot. Came home to repair some areas on the GoSun Stove. Trimmed the edges with the Flair.

Can honestly say the shininess on the tape roll would of been near perfect if it also applied to the metal surface as smooth. But as with anything it did not. No matter how many times I tried applying the tape it came out micro-wrinkled - not smooth.
Guess will have to look for actual self-adhesive thin metal that is mirror polished, can be applied to a slight curve without wrinkles, and buy it in pieces. THAT might be a better idea if it was thing was rigid - even if was stainless steel or something. Does something like that even exist though?

  More firm, and better flavor

Kind of like the difference between chicken and rabbit; white potato = chicken, purple potato = rabbit

Why are purple potatoes purple?
Unlike white -fleshed potatoes, Purple potatoes are rich in the antioxidant, anthocyanin. This flavonoid is most often found in blue, red and purple produce such as berries and pomegranates and has been shown to be an immune system booster and aid in the prevention of certain cancers.

Shrimp was good! I should try to find something better to cook with shrimp and a better seasoning or sauce. I don't cook shrimp often but these were good and tender at 40 minutes. The tail parts slid right on off.

Despite Rob's affinity for hiding my sporks on church socials he does have a few things he does well. This is an alcohol-free New Wine he makes from select grapes. I've helped him and this is a long task to make this delicious beverage that grants him fame in the area.

And what good is a Flair is one didn't remove a few corks? I'm not a wine drinker, though the white is far better than the red. That being said I opened a bottle of Beaver's New Wine. So, here's the pudding. :D

Scoring the foil with serrated blade

Cutting plastic foil with serrated knife

  Inserting the corkscrew

Preparing to lift the old cork out

Removal of first half of the old cork. Yup, it pulled into two pieces

Other half of cork was removed. The Flair was able to reach down over an inch, get a grip, and still have ample room for the fulcrum to be used

  A decorked bottle!

Late work day. Got home, cracked open a cool one, and got some time to relax. Someone commented in the GoSun forum about not being creative enough for use of a retired tool. They wanted some new stuff so...

If you look up the photo details you'll see it was taken yesterday, although posted a few minutes past midnight. Had some computer issues to deal with - like 4 GoogleUpdate.exe *32 trying to run at the same time locking up my PC. I fixed that, Google can't update diddly if the files aren't there. >:D

I love this thread Mate!!!

You may have to start a separate thread with some the scrumptious recipes we see here.

Apart from the food focused "tools", how do you like the Flair in general?

It needs a file and it be a decent go-to all-around tool. Leatherman would of had to flare out one side to accommodate one, though not sure if having a wider bottle assist would be a good thing
The scissors are odd, and one could use the flipper for a catapult! And the knife a lot of serration on it. Probably for tough sausage & foil cutting purposes.

There are improvements that could be made but would end up being like a Fuse or Blast model then ... which would not be a bad thing. I like it for its simplicity, though I really do miss the file for fingernail grooming and other daily routine tasks.
