September 2016 Donation Draw Prize- Woo!
on: September 02, 2016, 12:36:57 AM
So usually I come up with a fancy angle to try and make the prize for the month seem more interesting and fun than it is- sure we have some pretty cool and special items available, because let's face it, boring is boring.  But this month, well, I have to say I think I have even outdone myself, with this- the Woo Knife, handmade by legendary knife maker Newt Livesay.

There's no reason to hype this knife up with fancy words- it is a simply gorgeous knife, and it's specs speak for themselves.

- 1095 High Carbon Steel
- Paracord wrapped handle
- Kydex neck sheath
- 7 Inches overall
- 3 Inch blade

And did I mention that it was handmade by Newt Freakin' Livesay (not his real middle name...)?  I remember reading about some of his knives in Tactical Knives, Knives Illustrated and Blade magazine back in the 90's, and I have to say I consider us really lucky to have one of his knives here.  In fact, I was extremely lucky that I managed to get one of these knives for myself, in addition to getting one for the forum!

As awesome as this is, the usual rules apply.  Donate a minimum of $10US to the Forum Operational Fund using the big orange Make a Donation button on the right, the Donations link at the top or by following this link:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?action=treasury

It doesn't matter which one you use, they all go to the same place.

If we hit our goal of $275 before midnight on September 30th (Forum Offset Time) this knife will find a new home.  If we don't hit the goal then it won't be going anywhere, but I doubt that will be a big problem with such a gorgeous piece.  I mean, this is a high quality handmade knife from one of the great knifemakers of our time.  I mean, who wouldn't want a shot at it?   :pok:

If we hit the goal before midnight on the 15th I will add an Early Bird Draw, and the winner of that draw will still be in for the Woo Knife, so you might want to get in early on this one.

Good luck to everyone that enters- this one is going to be really fun to watch!

I'm surprised this one hasn't jumped up a lot faster!  This is a serious knife from a serious maker and I figured everyone would be all over it!

Lovely knife, but way too tactical for my tastes. So I'll pass on this particular opportunity. There WILL be a donation incoming regardless though

Yeah, it is a really sweet knife.  I love the raw, handmade feel of it.  It sort of feels like it's a piece of some industrial machine that broke, and someone ground down a broken piece into a knife edge so it could continue being useful.

And yet, it still feels like it was designed to be a knife, and it does that very well.

Sadly this one didn't hit the goal either, but I'm hoping October's prize will work out better.  I'll announce it tomorrow sometime.  :D
