Hi from the American West.
on: September 03, 2016, 09:58:13 AM
Greetings ladies and gentlemen.

I notice a picture of smilies at the top of the page. And the one opening blades represents me pretty much.

Sad story I was very young not yet a teenager and purchased a multiple blade knife from the ever present Sears Christmans Cataloge (I think that's where I got the Craftsman). The blades were very hard to open, when you needed something it took an effort.

I swore off Swiss knifes. They appealed in mail order catalogs but I thought 'you'll be wasting money', remember the Craftsman.

I shoot old style traditional black powder guns and my friends that shoot modern guns , or were backpackers all carried ordinary knives, not multitools. Decades roll by.

Finally youtube saved the day. Obviously these tools are easy to use when we see it done.

So praise Youtube where moving pictures tell the story.

And bought a Champion Plus on a big sale price on Amazon.

Other one I though I wanted was some sort of Leatherman. Concerns over modern quality control and love of vintage things, led me to buy a minty original Leatherman which is in the mail.

I love the Champion Plus as it is a Swisschamp without the extra layer for pliers, and therefore very pocketable. I noticed in 2016 Victorinox catalog it is missing. Too bad because it used to be their flagship, as I understand it, before SwissChamp came along.

Sincerely,
Fielder

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
