Replacing Wenger corckscrew for a Philips screwdriver
on: September 23, 2016, 03:03:58 PM
Hello all,

about seven years ago I bought a Wenger Evolution ST army knife, which I use almost every day with a lot of pleasure.
The only thing I'd like to change abut it, is to replace the corkscrew with a Philips screwdriver, this would really make the knife perfect for me.

Could anyone tell me if this is possible at all, and if so, if there is any place or person who could me help me with it? I really know nothing about where to start this project, the only thing I do know is that it's a thing I want to do for years.

Also, it might be cheaper/easier to just replace the knife and be done with it, but hey, I'm kinda sentimental about this knife after all those years.
Anu help would be appreciated!

(Attached: the loved knife, at the somewhat less loved corkscrew)

[edit]
To make myself more clear; in the perfect scenario I would like to pay someone to do this task for me. I'm living in The Netherlands, but sending the knife abroad would also be ok of course.

Yes it's possible and not to hard either.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I would help but shipping to and from you would be more than it's worth. Sorry

I'm afraid I won't be any help.
Personally, I would never swap the corckscrew for a ph.
There are just to many uses for it while the screwdriver, is a screwdriver.

Last week I couldn't open an alarm touchpanel because you have to push back a small spring underneath it to open it up, but someone had built a bookshelve underneath it.

I managed to press the spring by using the tip of my corckscrew.
Never would've worked with a screwdriver... but ok, to each his own.

Good luck!

To each his own, sure!
I've been wanting to swap the corkscrew for years now, so I've had plenty of time to think this through, and I would use a screwdriver for more than I use the corkscrew now.
For most of the situations you describe I use the awl, and for the one bottle of wine I open with it each year, well, I like beer more anyway.

I happen to find a guy from Germany who might be willing to help me out, so I hope this will be fixed quite soon!

It was at a 90 degree angle, so no awl could do that :D

Get back at us when you got it switched, because...

Well, the German guy who I hoped could help me isn't responding, so if there anyone else reading this who can or knows someone who can help me, I'm really glad to hear!

So, my German friend (who turned out to be not German, but from London, haha), got in contact, I sent him the knife, he fixed it and I just got it back.

Turned out to be amazing, the screw driver fits perfect and the guy even cleaned the knife and sharpened the blade. I'm speechless.
