I know the title but I haven't seen the film. Is it any good?

I have weird tastes in movies so best I don't make a call good or bad. I will say it has Scarlett Johansson in it. Shocker, I know.

I understand and respect that :salute:

Also, Bill Murray starring...

I loved it - slow moving, beautifully shot, the sense of detachment and finding a kindred soul in an unfamliar place comes across clearly and what a cast! I could watch Scarlett and Bill in anything.

Blatantly nicked from ARRSE-pedia

Quote
Nobody has ever really known what the AB stood for. 'Anal blockage' was the most common answer but in reality it was : 'ArseBursters' based on their well known ability to glue your outlet valve so tight, you thought you were about to get a turtle's head a la Alien. These really were the food of Satan: thousands of soldiers spent millions of man hours trying to make them taste OK, and in the end, all they were able to do was crumble them into a compo all-in stew, alongside the Beef and Onion and Macedoine (and with the Apple and Apricot Flakes if the hideous truth be told). Thank God for Biscuits Brown and the even more exotically named Biscuits BGMB.
Is also a witch.

Flash Traffic - meaning of AB found! Apparently it stands for "Alternative Bread", which makes a certain sort of sense...... can't exactly slap a few slices of Sunblest into a bag, put it on a shelf in the QM's store, issue it exactly two weeks before the ration pack goes past its shelf life, and expect to have the fluffly white makings of a nice sandwich.
Of course, the Americans have just spent millions developing MRE sandwiches which apparently allow you to do just that.

I haven't had an MRE since Boy Scouts. Thank God.....
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

MREs were had, gastrointestinal reverberations were had also.  ::)
Beef Stroganoff , powdered eggs. I lived on something that resembled porous semtex , biltong i think. Tangerine drink mix was awesome. Instead of 1 pack per liter put 4 packs per liter. Like syrup..mmm mmm

In the army we got some rations that had passed its expiration date by about 7 years.
It tasted ok, but the tube cheese had separated.

Also when I was a kid, my father got his hands on some old tinned army rations, wich the soldiers used to call "dead man in a can".
It was still eatable, but did not taste great. According to my father they tasted roughly the same as the ones he got when he was in the Army.

Read an article some years back about ways to make C rations, etc, taste better. Most of the suggestions revolved around tobasco sauce.   :D

I have never eaten military rations let alone old past the due date ones.

However, I guess I really don't have to. I can live vicariously through these videos...

I liked the original menu's omlette with ham.

I've also been informed I'm neurologically defective- both taste and brains.

As one of the few people who replied within the subject parameters said -

They taste like an old chamois on a good day - and while they probably won't kill you if slightly out of date, they are unlikely to improve with age.

As for "Different countries" - You'll find people from each country all swear their own country's is the worst - This is most likely because if they are in the business of eating MREs, they have eaten a lot of their own country's, and there are only so many menus, and so many times you can eat the same goop before you'd rather lick the moss off a rock than open another pack  ::)

But, as is often the case, what is discarded waste of the Military, is cute, interesting militaria novelty to us mere mortals (plus they can be handy when out camping) so I have sampled a few :P
It never occurred to me to film and upload the occasions  ???

As an aside, I've heard a joke (that has probably no factual backing) that some items (Paint perhaps, unlikely to be a food product) are labelled with the words "Carcinogenic, except to Defence Members"
Implying that the Military is somehow immune to certain toxins and chemicals

With that, even as a joke, You'd be unlikely to find me scoffing down excessive Military rations, much less ancient ones from times when the necessities of war and current wisdom might not have prevented the inclusion of some truly suspect materials!
