So, we're only allowed to pick *one* 111mm SAK for the whole month, not allowed to switch out day-to-day, as long as it's a 111mm model? Not allowed other "sidekick" SAKS,  for like the scissors, as most 111mm models lack them?

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

You must be new on challenge ..

I also didn't realise this... of course I understand you can't carry sidekick SAK's, but I did hope it was allowed to switch between the different 111mm SAK's I have, just like in the minimalist challenge  ::)

It all depends on who is running the challenge. For the Discontinued and Traditional badges, I allowed switching up, as well as sidekicks in some cases. Obi1 has decided to be evil in this one. ;)

I think this will be an interesting challenge for sure but I don't think I will participate this month but I will definitely be watching this from the sidelines :tu:

Same here. You'll see my 111mm GAK and PE Trekker in here occasionally just for smurfs and giggles...... :D
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Like many here, I have more SAKs than any man could ever need.
So when it comes to picking a 111mm for this (almost impossible) challenge, I am spoiled for choice.

I have the usual suspects to chose from - in no particular order:
German Soldier's knife, black Trekker, black OH Trekker, red Nomad, red OH Forester, red Atlas, orange Hunter SX, and a lovely Locksmith. I also have a Dual Pro which has gone AWOL.

Anyway, as I am unable to decide which of these beauties to take with me on this silly challenge, I have decided to settle the matter the old fashioned way - by playing SAK Twister.

It's lucky the Dual Pro is missing, cos 8 SAKs fit rather neatly around the board.

So I give the wheel a spin and let the gods decide which SAK will be my mighty Excalibur for November....

Well, Crap!
Thanks a bunch, nameless deities! You picked the only SAK I have that doesn't have a cap lifter.

What I've got on the Hunter XS is a big blade, a gutting blade, and a bottle opener.
And as I don't hunt and I don't drink wine, I can only conclude that the gods are trying to tell me something.
Could it be:
1) Start drinking wine and hunting
or
2) don't decide ANYTHING by playing Twister!              <----right answer

See you in November...

I see your 111mm and raise you 19 more.
I'm going to play along with my 130mm Wenger Ranger 56. Hopefully that counts. If not, OK; but I'm still playing.

I was wondering about the Wenger 120mm (predecessor to the 130mm) and 130mm, the latter now the Vic Delemont RangerGrip line. They're in the "large" bin with the 111mm. I've got a RangerGrip 178 and it's a great tool. Have fun!

I'm in with a Nomad that will be delivered later today. Gonna be tough removing the Classic from my keyring.

The more the merrier! Who needs a Classic when you've got a mighty Nomad?!

(I think we should let the Wengers play too. Even if they'd slaughter us in a sword fight.)

Scissors for around the kiddos. I'll probably pocket a pair of slip n snips on the weekend, specifically for that reason.

Actually I agree - I use SAK scissors far more than I thought I would, and almost never buy a 91mm SAK unless it has scissors. So not using them for a month will be tough.

An Outrider would be a good choice for the challenge, esp. because of scissors and openers, but the minimalist challenge has worn me down. I'l be playing the field next month, mostly with the Pioneer X I think, again because of scissors and openers. Hard to have both with 2 layers.  ;)

I thought I would love the Outrider. Scissors and all the rest in 111mm dimensions, plus that long funny screwdriver thrown in!
But then I realised I'd never actually carry it cos it's just a bit too chunky, and the long screwdriver is too skinny to be much use.
So I sold mine after less than a month of having it.

Would have been good for this particular challenge, of course. But, as they say in the Asterix books - Alea jacta est! I am going to roll with my Hunter XS, come what may...

I looked at the Outrider years ago. It looks too chunky for my tastes. I love the two layers SAKs. Three is pushing it. Four and above is usually a no go for me.

But, scissors? They are a must for me, and usually get carried in the form of a Classic, slip n snips, or, occasionally, and Executive. Tags on clothing, purchases, straws in restaurants, etc, I love having them around.
