Custom SAK... Custom scales!!

Atleast you can give it a try... if it doesn't work you can still buy something else... nothing to lose ;)

I have thought of wood  But I want this SAK to have all the bells and whistles of Plus scales and I don't know if I would have the patience to add all the slots  :D

I think a good modded SAK would be a tool only SAK to pair with a dedicated folder.

Maybe I can attempt this soon.

Who knows I may try something along this lines as well

 :like:

I'm thinking, opening layer, magnifying glass and inline Phillips pliers, scissors, maybe saw and file.  Backside Phillips, hook, chisel, and awl on back.....

I would  :like: to see this if you make it cause it sounds awesome

 :like:

I may have started looking for mod fodder.....

Quick question though....where are you acquiring pin stock?

That's the million dollar question isn't it :D I may hit a hobby shop up and see if I can track any down but I have been looking online as well.  50ft-trad use to supply it on EDCSource for a while bit don't think he does bow and Rotokid was the supplier before him. Now I don't really think anyone here specifically does

They look nice but I think for a 91mm SAK they might be a bit heavier than I want

Find your pin stock?

Yes I did :tu: but I haven't worked on the knife any so other than that nothing to report :salute: :D

I got it at the SMKW but it is 3/32 vs. 2.5 mm and I read on here that it was very close in size so I am going to find out for myself ;) :tu:

I will have to get an inline awl still to be able to finish this SAK but I am wondering how to pack the hole some and remove play by both the pruner blade and the in line awl :tu: Fun project so far and I know more about peening and making SAKs pre install  :like:

I don't think you'll need to.  As long as you get the thickness right with a washer if you need it to take out side-to-side play then the backspring will keep the tools tight against the pivot even if the hole is bigger.  Vic do this with the electricians blade on the 91 and 84mm knives already, and I've done it with some pliers I drilled out to 3mm but ended up using in a 91mm knife mod and there's no noticeable play. :tu:

May not need it with the in line awl but the pruner blade pivot may be bigger than 3mm  It isn't terribly bad when I had it together before but it was a bit floppy up and down but it did lock into place one fully opened  I never had it tight though because the pins were to short and they may make a world of difference :tu:

Ah, I missed the bit about the pruner blade.  I think they're 3.5mm holes.  Maybe just do what Syph does - bash a chunk of brass in there, sand the sides flush with the tang then drill to 2.5mm.

That is what I was thinking but not sure how is would hold up to drilling but if he has done it then that may be the route I got :tu:

That thing is awesome jaya :o :like: :like: I am honored that you thought my SAK idea was good enough to build :salute: :tu:

I saw it in the Ranger thread and have been trying to think of a name  I had a name planned for my mod but for the life of me I can't remember what I was gonna call it

Master Ranger would be appropriate but I had a very cool name picked (well I thought it was cool ::) :D ) Will have to try and remember or come up with an awesome name for that awesome SAK :salute: :like: :like:

Master Ranger is a great name. For something a little less descriptive how about Master Chief (from Halo)?
