Hey there from Canada
on: November 25, 2016, 05:32:00 PM
Hey there!

I stumbled apon this place while shopping for my new tool and found myself returning a few times so i desided to register.
I started carrying Victorianox pocket knives sbout 25yrs ago when i worked as an interior finisher. Painting, wallpapering etc. It was one of those essential tools i didnt leave home without.
My partner and i were known to strip the wallpaper off an entire room using only a sprayer and our swiss army knives lol.
I still have most of them, but i moved to muti tools  when my job changed and quickly found that like pocket knives, quality makes all the difference!
I bought my first one at home depot for $30 i think.. the only name brand i could find on it was "stainless". Needless to say it fell apart about 2 weeks later.
So i took the plung and bought a leatherman surge.
And from there i was hooked and rarely leave home without one on my side.
That surge was lost many years ago, but i currently own a super tool 300, Crunch, Wave and an assortment of knives.
I am currently waiting for my new Surge black ninja edition to be delivered!
Cant wait!

Anyways.
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome!  :D
May I suggest a swiss army knife paired with a multitool? Some combinations give you the best of both worlds.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Nice- when I lived in Toronto I rarely made it much further that way than Whitby, and even then mostly because I worked in the jail there.  I think I only went to Oshawa two or three times.

Is she going to Carleton?  It's a good school, I was planning to go there a few thousand years ago.

Yes, shes 1st year at Carelton in international studies. She had to take a course that involves world travel incase we havent spent enough money..
On second thought... I should have ordered the 24kt gold Shogun addition leatherman while i still can! It would demand a better price at the pawn shop someday if she desides to go for a masters degree!
(Or harakari with it if she drops out in year 3)

Well, I'm only a few blocks from Carleton, so if I can ever be of any service, please feel free to let me know.   :tu:

I finaly got around to taking a pic of what i currently have (or could find atm)
I have had a few other victorinox over the years that have been lost, and a couple in this pic have been retired.

The SAK on the top right with a doll-shaped sticker on it was my very first one. My daughter stuck it on there when she was around 2yrs old, which was 17yrs ago and i retired it not long after. So i think it would be around 25yrs old now.
Funny thing is now that i think about it.. i paid around $50 for one back then. I can get one for half that today!

Ive had a few more leatherman over the years, like a Surge that got lost/stolen and a ST300 that i gave to my assitant when i bought said Surge.

You have some cool stuff there!  The Crunch is a must have IMHO.  I recall when I first got one- I couldn't put it down.  I flicked it open and closed over and over again until I figured out how to open and close it entirely one handed.

Is that an old or new Wave?  I'm looking at the pic on my phone so maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see any locks on it.

Its the new Wave. It was my EDC until i recently got the bo Surge. I still carry it sometimes when i want something smaller and lighter.
Really thinking about getting a Leatherman Signal to add to the mix. I like the idea of having a hammer end. Sometimes i just need to smack stuff!
