Your say in building a Charge
« on: September 26, 2008, 03:07:16 PM »
What setup what you like to see in a Charge model ?

I still have one serrated 154CM blade left, so that's going in for sure.
So is the standard plain edge 154CM blade, as well as the saw and the diamond file.

My plan is to build the last one of these series with a setup that is decided on the forum, so if you think it needs 6 flathead screwdrivers tell me about it. :D
If some setup isn't possible i will tell you, but the resulting Charge will be made by me and then be the subject of a giveaway on this forum.
(That is if it's okay with the management ofcourse,)

I hope we can come to an agreement about what this final modded Charge should have for tools in it's intestines,

(However, as i only have one type of leg in stock, this Charge to be will be made with 2 equal legs, so you wont be able to use it for measuring anything longer than one leg anymore.
I hope this is clear enough to everybody  :D)

You can also choose if this model is to have cap-crimper pliers or not,

I say it needs 6 different combo tools. :D

Because I would like to own something as bizzare as that.

Can you somehow do, small bit driver, scissors, large flat, phillips and bottle opener?  That would be perfect IMO.

And I agree, no crimpers.

I'd say have Ti scales, a plier head with no crimpers, have a serrated blade with gut hook, then in the handles have an awl, philips, large flat, scissors, can/bottle opener, and that would be the perfect LM Charge model!

I would say two flat head drivers (one to be modded-by winner-to the chisel), an awl, a can opener, and large bit driver.

  • 2x 154cm blades as you said
  • Regular plier head without crimper
  • Normal inside components
  • Except substitube awl from Surge for the flat head
  • Bigger scissor from older wave

yes, the 2 blades you said;
2 awls (pointy & chisel like)

scissors
diamond file!

Pretty close to my ideal that.

I'd make it a Charge TTi configuration (I'd even keep the new scissors as they're sharper), but swapping that randomly placed flathead for an awl would be a good move. I actually really like the bit drivers, so I'd leave them be.

Do you have the facilities to customise the scales somehow Kwakster? Would you use the anodised aluminium, or the Titanium scales?

 :ahhh Great idea Kwakster

Both blades as you said
-diamond file a must
-I don't know if it would work  put the scissors from the surge ::)
-perhaps put the saw in the inside (Blast)
-phillips driver (Blast)
-an awl
-a chisel
-Med flat screwdriver
-an anything else you can fit in that would work :ahhh :D

I changed mine a bit after thinking a bit about it ::) :D

I agree with Benner on this one. You gotta have scissors and a long phillips driver like the one found on the Kick/Fuse/Blast. I also find the small but driver useful for poking into tight places.

You could always add a bit kit to it if you did have the Blast phillips head driver as well :D

How about a corkscrew? Or putting the Surge blade exchanger and scissors on it? Or figuring out a way to get 1/4" bit adapter to work (I don't think the handles are wide enough though)?

In general, I like the idea of discarding the existing bit holders for dedicated drivers, dropping the can opener, and adding tools like the chisel and awl.
