Send good thoughts to Mercury
on: December 09, 2016, 10:25:08 PM
I just saw on FB that Mercury was in a car accident.  Everyone seems ok, but he is guessing the car is a write off.

I imagine he will be around to tell us about it sooner or later- let's make sure that when he stumbles in there are lots of well wishes for him!

...and, why did he post it on Facebook before posting on MTO?

I'm thinking some neurological damage occurred. Or maybe the shock was so bad that he thought he was here....

Wow thanks everyone!  I am definitely ok, I got really lucky.  The accident was low speed on my end, and the guy that hit me wasn't going incredibly fast but since it was icy he basically didn't slow down at all.  He hit the rear passenger side of my car on the wheel basically, sending me into an uncontrolled spin.  I ended up sideways in the road about a foot from a parked car.  My car won't run and is still sitting where I managed to park it.

It's been stressful but I am looking at buying a truck within the week, so hopefully that goes through and I end up in a better vehicle than I was in.  I wasn't expecting this, nor was I really prepared but smurf happens!  I'm just thankful my son wasn't in the car with me, the impact was on his door and just behind it, I'm afraid it would have scarred him for life.

I sure hope you get the truck.  I recall you wanting one again .  Glad your son wasn't in the car as well and you and the other driver can walk away.  Even low speed crashed can be bad.  Be well.

I spent today lining up my new truck.  Hopefully everything works out tomorrow and I can pick it up after work.  It was a stressful day but it passed inspection(my mechanic, not theirs) with flying colors.  This truck was extremely well taken care of.

I did hear from the insurance appraiser, he thinks the car will total.  Based on my experience I agree.  That's good for me because I don't want this car after the repairs that would be necessary.  Basically they'd cut the quarter panel out and weld in a replacement that was cut from a junk yard car.  Not the best IMHO.

By the end of the week this should be over with completely, and I can stop drinking beer to get my mind off it!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, it's easy to forget how many radars one person can register on, and it's a great feeling being reminded!  I love this place!

But that is a close second!   :pok:
