I've got a "PAT" screwdriver in mine to keep it as close to original date as possible, but I'd never think the modern hex version would be any different.
That's what I don't get about corkscrews, even between non-fluted ones, the mini-screw driver can either not fit perfectly, fit but loose or not fit at all...
Just tried mine in both of my fluted corkscrews and it's a no go here too.
Just got home...And the hex screwdriver doesn't fit my fluted corkscrew either...I have to say I'm surprised...
As far as I remember no corkscrew insert fits the old style corkscrew. I specifically had people request modern corkscrews before when I worked on older SAKs for that exact reason. The hex and round mini screwdriver fit the same exact way, at least the ones I have here.

Now I have no idea if there was more than one version of the fluted corkscrew though, or it its just part deviation error. I know Ive heard others complain about it though, not being able to put in the mini driver.
I'm going to try and find a PAT imprint mini driver.Going to post a want to buy now.

The good news is I did find one yesterday on the auction site. A photo of it confirmed it has "Pat" on the plastic part and he mentioned it in the description as well.
It doesn't fit. Has someone done a modification for it to work with the fluted corkscrew?(Image removed from quote.)Here it fits in a more modern Spartan I have.(Image removed from quote.)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well this is strange - I have a very old Alpineer that has a fluted corkscrew, but the modern hexagonal mini screwdriver fits it perfectly!

I bought a non PAT driver a couple years ago at a dealer in a local mall and it fits my 80's era Waiter. Tonight I tried the one from my new Explorer and it worked as well.I heard that some of the corkscrews were/are made in Japan because they are equipped better to produce them. I wonder if there really are different suppliers. (Image removed from quote.)Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
