All the removable bits of this tool seem a bit gimmicky to me  but that is the point I guess with a survival based type tool :D :like:

This is why we do it :D

The Signal does not get a lot of love around here and there are many parts about it, I dislike. The plastic parts, the semi serrated blade... but appart from that

I'm surprised to say, but the Signal is my new favorite Leatherman. Ok, it's a tie with the Charge.
Here is a list of functions I like
- The frame locks together
- Small hammer. We all have mis-used something to do some light hammering, have we not. The hammer of the Signal (and the Mut) is a rather unique offering. I prefer the hammer part of the Mut, but that one has even more tools I have no use for.
- Apart from the serration, the blade is very nice
- The frame might be ugly, but it is far more comfortable in my hands than the Wave. No sharp corners / edges.

So...
Dear Leatherman, please give us Wave 3.0 based on the Signal with 4 long tools (blade holder, PE blade, pry-bar, ???) and the hammer. And make it a deep carry pocket clip.

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Absolutely, I think the Challenges are great ways to put us out of our comfort zone and spend quality time with a single MT. And the Signal is probably one that needs to be "reviewed" in real world uses

I have to agree here, it is one of my favourites too and can easily EDC it.

So, my Signal has been real lazy the past days, while I was swarmed...

Finally, it got some work for the Signal... the best kind... unpacking new stuff :D

Just a small update, comparison of the Signal blade to the Wave blade, really dig the shape but not the serration.

Yip, agree too. That was one of the reasons I got the Damascus blade - no serrations.

For whatever reason, it seems that "real" MT and knife guys are not into partial serrations, whereas either the "average" consumer is into them or manufacturers think they are.  They seem to be aimed at the mass market, which I guess makes sense for a company wanting to sell a bunch of MTs.

Yeah, I'm an either or guy too. It is kinda strange as MT guys we deal with compromises, but I still can get myself to like the partially serrated.

Typical Swiss morning... preparing hot Chocolate
We got a new "beer" store in town, they also have tons of funky soft-drinks. So, the signal got to open a Jarritos Guava, very delicious I might add.

They have it, didn't pick it up this time...

Last time I had "Mexican Cola", funny part about it is, that I just the day before I watched "Android Cop" in there, Mexican Cola (not this particular brand) was highly illegal because it has real sugar in it.

Yeah all their drinks have real sugar vs. the high fructose corn syrup of drinks made in the US :-\ I wish we would go back to real sugar as it is more natural and seems like it would be better/easier for a persons body

Yeah I said it before... next gen Wave needs this.
You loose about 3 slots for the inner tools on the hammer side, but with the Signal frame design you gain 2 on the other side.

Awl, large flat prytool without cap-lifter, chisel, bit-holder and larger scissors on the outside in place of the serrated blade.
or
Awl, large flat prytool without cap-lifter, scissors , bit-holder keep the outside tools.

Bit holder instead of the firesteel.
Deep carry pocketclip

Instant win!

Was at a children's birthday party today. Of course scissors were needed, so out came the Spirit... sorry Signal, today you had to sit on the sidelines.

I would say most things you can do with scissors you can do with a blade BUT there are situations where scissors are simply preferable and working around little children is certainly one of them.

I have two complaints... the needle-nose was really bad for this job and it totally missed a pry-tool...

I have to work on that, but for now, I'm pretty happy. Also, now that I carry the Signal, I'm kinda wondering how I did without a hammer before :D
