Best Mistake, Ever!
on: January 12, 2017, 01:31:05 AM
Back before Christmas, I ordered a Vic Soldier '08 to give as a gift off Camping Survival.   It arrived today, as they'd taken a long Christmas and New Year break, and didn't ship out until Monday this week.  I opened it up, and noticed that the scales were bluish-gray, and remarked "Wait a minute, that ain't no Soldier!"  Then I opened up the blade, and noticed "YOUR COMPANION FOR LIFE ON THE ROAD", then realized, that it's a Master RT, which I'd been after for two years. The photos showed a Soldier as well in the listing. It's brand spanking new as well--I didn't see much evidence that someone had carried or used it.   Between it, a Wenger Backpacker, and LM Mini Tool (or my heavier, less compact lineman's pliers) all my needs are covered.

Believe it or not, it only cost $11, which was the main reason I bought the supposed Soldier in the first place,

EDC material, or something I should put up?

Thanks guys.  I'll carry it one week, which is my standard for a non-packaged, used tool.  Luckily, I just noticed one of the liners is bent at the can opener.   I did that to the bottle opener side on my Soldier--must be 111mm liners are really soft.

I've been able to fix that same spot on 111mm's before...I think it's because the liner goes so far past the pivot there's kinda nothing to support it and more leverage if something catches it at the edge. I had to the the scale off but it bent back pretty clean.

Pretty sweet $11 knife!

If only I could be so lucky. I would carry it on special occasions when I wouldn't have to use it hard. How could you not carry the coolest $11 SAK you'll ever own.
Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?
