Compatibility questions
on: January 18, 2017, 04:37:48 AM
Hi, I'm very interested in modding my PST to exchange the file with a saw, but I have some concern about the tools fitting. Does anyone with a digital caliper have the measurements of the thickness (of the area around the pivot hole) of the wave/charge saw, and of the surge saw/file holder? Thanks a ton!

That's something I plan to do with a PST II soon.   Someone here did it before, but used a cut down SOG saw.

Yip, I fitted a SOG saw into a PST body. Not difficult at all.

Read all about it here:

That's awesome! So you didn't have to mess with the locking notch on the blade at all?

That is correct. Once the bottom was aligned, I could see how much needed to be removed from the top. Go slow, if you remove to much it cannot be put back. With the top flush with the handle the locking mechanism lined up as if it was fitted from the factory.

I can take additional pics of the saw inside the tool if you want.

Cheers,

Pete

By the top do you mean the spine of the saw or the top part of the pivot area?

I mean the whole top side of the saw blade from the tip to the pivot end. When I sanded mine down I used a piece of glass and clamped the sanding paper to it. That way I got a perfectly flat surface to sand on.

I hope it is clear.

Pete
