I just use zoom spout oil, think its a mineral oil based product, I dont like the smell of wd40, and the zoom oil is good for vics, folders and MT's. just googled it you can get a bottle at walmart for $2.50 and it will literally last forever.

I use 3-in-One multi purpose oil to lubricate multitools and knives:

I use WD40 to protect items against the effects of moisture.

I use mineral oil to lubricate pivots, and WD40 to clean and protect from rust.

The only time I oil mine really is when I clean them. They are usually covered in grease, fuel or hydraulic oil. Then I use about anything at hand. 3n1, gun oil, WD40 and sometimes 10w40 motor oil.

For cleaning I use WD40, for pivot lubrication I use 3n1.  I have not found my LM require anything more that these two products.  I have not experienced the "LM Rust" other talk about.  My tools get wet daily and are simply wiped off.

I do have Frog Lube and have applied it to a couple tools and high carbon knives however I cannot say for certain if this product has provided the protection claimed.  I do live in a dry climate so YMMV.
