Curiosities.
on: February 27, 2017, 01:05:57 AM
Tonight I started touching up a couple knives and before I knew it I had pulled out a mix of things for various reasons. I felt kinda odd after I looked at the table and realized I have a weird idea of a Sunday night. The two SAKs were to compare spine thickness. The case was to look at the patina. The PST 2 was to look at the date codes. The Buck was my grandpas and wanted to look up when it was made. I can't be the only one. Can I?

No, we're all perfectly sane. Spending a quiet evening at home with a pleasant hobby instead of trying to deal with noise, drunken crowds, lousy traffic, etc. Easier on the wallet; easier on the body and soul.

I find it very peaceful to sharpen my knives.  Cleaning them too is also very relaxing.

When I feel pressure,  I either play TV games or knife care. Cleaning and caring the tools and sharpening the knives would calm me down.

It's actually a great time to care for your gear.  My going out to party days were very brief and decades ago.  Maintaining gear on a quiet night is something I enjoy.  I also enjoy looking at tools that were bought solely for collection purpose.  Reacquainting myself with them making sure they are storing well.

I recently went thru my light to grease the threads and o rings  :D.  To me this is part of the enjoyment of owning these items.

Very good points everyone. I do find it relaxing. I guess I've never looked at it as a hobby of mine, but it truly is. A very interesting one at that. Would love to see pics of anyone else's curiosities in the future.

They are kind of like... my pacifiers.
I don't suck them in mouth but knives and gears can really pacify me.  Looking at them,  playing around with them,  caring... sharpening them are really therapeutic.
