I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

That explains it, thanks :salute:.

In German we only have Kombizange (Combination pliers) as opposed to a single function pliers, at least I have never heard anything else.

P.S. Knipex has a pretty nice "Pliers-ABC"

more like losing the battle at the moment. Grabbed a couple of 9/32 cheapo cr@p sockets to make a couple of the bigger size to strip the new BO and Orange fuses.
LUCKILY (comparatively) I used my SS fuse to form the sockets.
First one went without a hitch...
Second one was hard as smurf and made a hex on the head of the screw!  :ahhh :ahhh

I'm so gutted I can't even bring myself to take a pic to post here.

maybe when I get to the "one day we'll laugh about this" point.

I must speak about these pliers here.

I took apart the BO Fuse and the Orange Fuse, just using these pliers, (2 of them) I did not heat up the locktite or anything.  I just grabbed and turned.

I know $25 for each plier is expensive,  but they are AMAZING

I found a deal on the pliers at about 50% off. I posted it in the "Deals" section of the forums just over a week ago.

Peter that is a bummer mate I guess you could look at it two ways , you now have a fastener with a conventional head  :P or now you need to replace the damaged fastener  ,, should not be too hard to get one   , I think I might have a spare PST fastener  not sure if they would fit the Fuse though .Or you do what I do & try & not look at the trashed head of the fastener  ::) :D .REALLY odd that your socket set had sockets of variable hardness  ??? , it is a shame you want to buy cr#p soft sockets & they slip a proper one in there  :ahhh.

DTs do the fancy pliers mark the fastener's edges at all

here are all the photos I took,  and I wont say there are NO marks,  but I will say, there is very minuscule if any

OK,  the swap was not that bad,  would have been done in like 15 minutes if it was not for those :serverloft: washers that made me understand what frustration really is.

anyway, on to the write-up

so here are the factory tools

hard to see, but notice the different angles on the large flat drivers (I took a better angled photo,  but you could not see the silver one)

so I like using the engineer pliers, but I also like NOT scratching the body of the tools so I decided to try something new, and it worked fairly decently.

I used these

and put them on the end of the pliers like so

they wore out before I was finished, I just replaced them and it was all good.

here is the tear down results

so, I also wanted to switch the lock releases so that the Orange Tool had black insides and locks.

ALL DONE!!!!!

orange handles, with black tools, black pliers, black locks, and black knurled knobs.

AND the BO handles with all silver everywhere.

I think my coworker is going to be happy,  I am actually very happy with my "Hidden Shiny"

My Engineer Pliers turned up today - I only bought one set as I find a Crunch works ok - I wish I'd got some months ago.  So easy to take the tools apart. :tu:

I was looking into the Rebar and possibly buying one to take apart and add scissors but this thread was fantastic to just learn about these engineer pliers. With my work the years of frustration and heartache I could have avoided if I would have known about these so many years ago! So this thread was fantastic!
