A day with boyo.
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:40:48 PM »
Well I was determined to do something nice for New Years Eve, so me and my boy headed off to some of the more deserted woodland today :)

Well it was bloody cold ::), and anyone with a 6 year old knows how difficult it can be to get them motivated!, but out the door we went and with the tempreture reading a sultry 1 degree c :o, we headed out the door :) Well it's a long old walk which gave me a chance to try out my new walking stick (woopie :() and have a proper chat with my boy without having to wade through Ben 10 this and Power Rangers that first :D, and I've got to say it was nice not to get violently assualted by him every two minutes either, which is pretty much the norm when were at home together :D

So we got to the woods after about a 3 mile walk, and we set about collecting fire wood which basically involves me trying to reign in his destructive streak, and trying to get him to hang off the right (dead) branches to pull them off the trees :D, but eventually we had a decent pile which was just as well as the tempreture in the woods was definetly a lot colder than it was in town, so much so that the puddles hadn't even melted, and it was getting on for midday by now :-\

Now I was going to christen my Micarta Carbon Grohmann, but I knew the wood would be like iron (I wasn't disapointed ::)) so I went with the bullet proof F1 instead, and despite slightly rolling the edge (I love VG10, no chiping just a roll :)) in one spot, she performed flawlessly making up batons and fuzz sticks, as there would have been no-way to get enough heat into the wood to light the fire any other way :)

So after cooking a delicious dinner (pot noodle :D) for the pair of us, and really stoking the fire to warm the pair of us up, it was time to clean up and ship off back to the homestead :(, but I took pity on the poor wee fella and after walking a further two miles we caught the bus home :D

All in all a bloody good day out, for practically zero cost :)

Sorry for boring you :D

All joking aside. Isnt it cool to take a little one out in the woods. They really dig it, and we all like it when they like to do stuff.
