5 Questions to ask Leatherman
« on: January 06, 2009, 12:19:26 AM »
Just like with SOG, I have a meeting set up with Leatherman, and want to know what specifically you guys are interested in knowing.  I'll take the best questions and ask Leatherman (the company, not the Big Man as he won't be there this year).

So, whaddya wanna know?

I'd really like to know if they are ever going to offer a "premium" SURGE! One with titanium handle scales, a hook on the serrated blade, 154cm/s30v knife, just like on a Charge! Thanks

That's pretty cool. :tu:

My question is: When are they bringing the KF4 back? :D

Seriously, though, I'd be curious to know if there are any new ideas going on for the juice line. Seems like it's been a while since they've done anything new with them.

Another question I' d have would be if they're thinking about expanding the flashlight line.

i guess the skeletool is the "new" sideclip, not that i like the idea, but looking trough the tool selection is pretty much the same. Maybe a more "classy" skeletool(like symmetrical) with a OHO 154CM plain edge and ill be the first in line :D

.....however a plain edge 154CM skeletool with a bit more symmetrical design is not a bad idea, right? :D

 What direction are they headed with any new tools?

Would they ever consider bringing back and updating any of there retired tools? (Like the MINI or Pulse)

Could they please bring back the old style sheath even if one had to buy it separate?

Are we gonna see any kind of a LM brand sharpening system like the Lansky or Sharpmaker?

Will they consider making any kind of extras (saws, awls etc...) for the bit holder or Surge's bit adapter?

and ask about flashlight's like Luke said :D

Well that's just a few I can think of right now ::) :D

WIRE STRIPPING PLIERS!

Adjustable wrench based multi.

Pliers made from actual tool steel.

Awl/Chisel for bit holder
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver, dedicated slotted drivers, and the Victorinox backspring philips. But not combo blades.

1. Will we ever see interchangable components like Sog offers?.

That along with compound leverage has helped keep Sog near the top of the multi tool game and if Leatherman added swapable tools it would be amazing.

Why is it that you offer a 25 year warranty and not a lifetime one like some of the rivals?

2.  How will they respond to Sog's assisted opening blades?.

Leatherman's biggest innovation to the multi tool was the outside accessible blades ( wave )  which Sog seems to have trumped and bettered with a/o,  balls in Leatherman's court now.
