With whatever sharpening stones, tools or devices I use I also have a 10x Hastings triplet magnifier loupe.  I use this to examine the bevel and edge to make sure it's done right.

Yes, it's a diamond coated plate bonded to a ceramic stone. You'll probably use the ceramic more often if you keep the edge up. That and a strop should keep you shaving sharp.

That's a D4 (D for diamond)...what you want is a DC4 (diamond/ceramic)

I believe they started to sell just the plates so they could be glued onto their thermoplastic sheaths.

Another Pocket stone that I like is the Spyderco Doublestuff - same ceramics as on their Sharpmaker. It's an extra inch longer and easier to hold.
