what Leatherman says about the Kf4
« on: February 03, 2009, 02:52:53 AM »
Dear ******:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the retired Juice Kf4.

This tool was actually retired due to low sales and there are no plans to bring it back.

I will, however forward your e-mail onto our marketing department for future consideration.

Sincerely,

Teresa Gregg

Remarkable. How is it they sell enough Xe6's, but not enough Kf4's?

That is quite surprising actually, but I think Prime probably has a point.  I bet the larger sells well as it is "bigger and better" and I bet the smallest sells well as well as it is the most compact.  The middle of the road tools really will only sell to those who really look into what they are buying and have specific needs.
I'm back!!

Which is why I am surprised the Fuse is still in production.

The KF4 needed either a bottle opener or scissors. That's what the majority expect.
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver, dedicated slotted drivers, and the Victorinox backspring philips. But not combo blades.

That's a rather alarming thought isn't it?

Products for people who have intelligently researched & considered the options before purchasing don't sell well?

Methinks the average consumer must be, to use a (presumably USaian) phrase "coo-coo for cocopuffs"

My opinion is that the only thing I would add to the K4 is a OH blade and a pocket clip.....otherwise its near perfect for me.  I have EDC'd it longer than any other multi.

I agree with you on that but gafftapegreenia has a point the masses want certain things that we as more hardcore MT users can overlook :)

Poor Luke won't like that answer that LM gave :( I don't like it personally either I though as I find the KF4 the most appealing in the juice series and the only Juice that I actually own :-\

They must be bonkers. Surely Luke's purchases alone must have made them viable?

Hehe, I was hoping. :P

Poor sales was what I always assumed killed the KF4. I would guess that all the theories here played a part in it's untimely demise. :'( What really drives me nuts is that they still make all the parts for it except the yellow scales. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to keep a few in production for those of us who realize it's worth. :pok:

Anyhow, I take pride in the fact that apperantly my name is synonymous with the KF4. :D
