I've been on Instagram (@theedczone) more, but finally decided to check back on some of the forms I used to visit.

It's been a while since I've made a meaningful post, so when I went to grab a textbook for an online assignment tonight, I looked over and saw my bookbag I use for school.  Let's see what all I carry on school days in addition to my normal EDC:

Timberland backpack from TJ Maxx with carabiner in loop

Carried in the main compartment are:
no-name WalMart special binder with notebook and current lecture's notes, plus last lecture's to cram for exam/practical
small Walgreens' Wexford notepad for random notes, I don't think I've used it
parking pass for campus
gum of the month, rotated out when used up
reading material, currently Stephen King's Blockade Billy, due to it's compactness
Kleen Kanteen in neoprene sleeve

In the front pocket lies:

$1 special Case Logic case with phone charger; just added the case, as I realized how tangled the charger was getting
Maxpedition Cocoon pencil case with pens, pencils, pencil sharpener for non-mechanical pencils, glasses cleaning cloth, freebie USB drive, Nite-Ize locking carabiner, quality eraser, and a ruler I'm pretty sure I stole from campus; I've since ditched the refillable mechanical pencil and refill lead so I can finish off the yellow ones first.

So nothing special, but it all gets the job done.

I am still experimenting with my EDC gear, rotating items every week to see what suits me best.

This is my current all-chrome EDC (sorry for crappy cell phone pic):
A cheap Zippo clone (damn fuel evaporation!), a cheap 3AA 9 LED flashlight (which is surprisingly sturdy and bright for like 5$), my current SwissTool (I absolutely love it) and Casio MTP 1308 (affordable yet great watch).

I wish I could find reasonably priced butane jet lighters in a Zippo-like metal case - I hate having to refill the lighter every three or four days because of the fuel evaporation. An original Zippo I had before also suffered from that problem.  :P

Nice EDC. :tu:

For the Zippo, you can get butane replacement inserts in soft flame or torch. There are two brands that I have seen: Thunderbird and Z-Plus. I have Z-Plus in Torch and Flame versions and like the torch best.

Pictures or it didn't happen.

Here you go.

Torch insert in a MSM Death Mechanic shell and Flame insert in a standard Black Crackle shell.

Correction to my earlier post on brand: The Torch insert is Z-Plus and the Flame insert is Thunderbird.

I have the Z-Plus, used it for maybe a couple months before it stopped working. I'm not sure if it was due to the quality of the fluid I was using which was Ronson IIRC. Needless to say I wasn't too impressed.

I've heard the Z-Plus can be hit and miss on quality. So far mine have been working fine, although I did have to bleed one of the torch inserts to get it sorted. I also use Ronson fuel as it's cheap at my local Canadian Tire.

Hi there

SAK is a Wenger of some kind, don't really know the model, maybe someone here can help

Vise Grips are the excellent Schrade 5WR multitool. A rare, discontinued tool that is slowly becoming my main multitool for every day carry. I recommend it a lot.

About the small cute fixed blade...

I got this knife last month for $3 and it's replacing my CRKT Minimalist as the small fixed blade of my EDC.
Inexpensive, lightweight, a true slicer and still kinda of "Wharncliffe" style blade like my Minimalist has.

Not as thick, longer, but same thickness and I made a simple sheath for it. Cuts like the dickens and rides in the pocket unnoticed.

Not shown is my work phone (taking the pic), or watch.  Of my EveryDC, the watch is the one that will be swapped around.

- Glock 43 in Uncle Mike's size 4 pocket holster
- spare magazine in kydex belt holster by kytexgear.com
- Streamlight Stylus Pro 2xAAA light (Eneloop rechargable batteries)
- SOG mini Aegis knife (deep clip, super light weight, spring assist, perfect blade shape)
- Victorinox Explorer Plus (the Queen Mother of 4-layer SAKs)
- mini Sharpie

I occasionally carry Fox 2 oz. pepper spray (cone pattern, flip top).

Everything rides in my pockets, except the spare magazine on the belt.  Part of the fun is aiming toward maximum utility in minimal size.  I could go smaller, but utility suffers: .380 instead of 9mm, shorter burn time on a 1xAAA light, fewer tools on the SAK, etc.

I have one of those G10 Espadas.  That's a serious piece of knife.

Is that a Glock in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Both.
