I've got a streak of gray in my hair, right in front. The beard has patches of gray which are pretty noticeable. :( Sucks getting old.....

Don't say that...

Yep, not the most flattering shot...squinty eyes and all...but then I did once post a photo in here wearing a chicken hat...so all bets are off when it comes to me and my mug. Thus, this is me after a fun day doing an IPSC shoot. Man it was hot, and the black flies rejoiced that Chako was there to provide.

How'd you do Chako?  I'm sure it's really fun regardless but getting better is a goal as well too I guess.

I made one big mistake by not shooting a few targets. However, my speedloading and hitting what I am aiming at is improving. so it is all good.

Funny you should ask that...yes they do. Just today, there was a guy who was filming his shooting because some custom company wanted several videos in lieu of money for the work they had done on his semi-automatic. The guy is a US border guard who comes over for each IPSC match. He had one of those video cameras jury rigged to his ear protectors. I was thinking of doing something the same.

one of the stages, you had to shoot two paper targets with your strong, an then another 2 with your weak hand. Well, that was a first for me shooting 357 magnum single handed. That was great fun...and yes, that revolver does have some kick to it.  :D

Seeing yourself shoot is also good for training. You can never pay attention to everything you are doing, so documenting your stance and posture, then analyse it later is great.

We film ourselves fencing ever now and then to check our legwork.

You fence? I am a bit jealous. There are no such activities locally that I could find. Still didn't stop me from collecting long blades however.   ;)

Yes I do. It's the very first sport I'm passionate about (sking, hiking and such don't count as sports in Switzerland they are family activities ;))

I fence with the German longsword, but for training we use a Meyer-feather (it is why I get confused if someone says the feather is mightier than the sword... the feather is a sword of sorts :P)

I bought this Tinker Pearce long sword with the idea of buying the practice blade for it...but when I looked around, no point as nobody does any European martial arts in the area.

I keep meaning to ask Beat; which group is it you train with?  For more year than I care to think about I was an instructor with the Dawn Duellists Society in Edinburgh.  I even ran it for a few years.  I did retire from the DDS a while ago now but kept up some personal practice with some friends.  Longsword was never my weapon of choice and certainly never taught it, but I did study some Vadi for a while.  I was best know for Military Sabre, but actually preferred 16th Century rapier.

Well, we founded our own club two years back.
Die BASKERHUNDE
Yes, we were tired! Yes, we were not sober! Yes we did watch Sherlock Holmes the day before! And yes, the green on its back is from a symbiotic bacteria which produces a GFP-variant (most prominently during mating season)!

We are also part of Swiss HEMA (SVHEKK) which is part of International Federation of Historical European Martial Arts (IFHEMA).
