Will get a resQme for the car keys. They are very cheap (10 Euro approx $7) so a good gift for a friend/family member too.

In 30 years in the fire service and EMS I have never had to punch a window or cut a seatbelt. Most "rescue tools" are marketing gimmicks that are too bulky to carry and usually end up at the bottom of your bunker pockets gathering rust. Besides, when you show up to a call you bring a big truck full of toys anyway!

I've decided to buy my wife a Spyderco 93mm Assist for her minivan.  I'll make sure she clips it to her sun visor so it will always be easily accessible.

The only ones I have carried (the only "rescue" tools that I have) are these two.
Note that they both come with a seat belt cutter, a glass breaker (not visible in the 2nd tool), 3 locking tools and are cheap.

That second one would great if it jost didn't have that blasted recurve blade. I hate recurve.

As for me, I have a ResQMe in both my cars attached to the gearstick with one of those mechanics cable rings. I tried carrying it on the keychain but found it to bulky. And everybody always wanted to play with it. :ahhh

Yes, they are a bit tricky to sharpen, but not impossible if done free hand by using the side of a sharpening stone (did it a few times on another SRM knife)
