Title: Kampfer’s Key Mod.
Post by: Kampfer on July 06, 2014, 11:01:24 PM
There are many key holder products on market to help you organize your keys, one of the main goal is to keep them from Jingling. Yes that is very annoying.

They are very stylish and work well (I suppose), but not cheap. Also so far I haven’t seen one that can accompany your automobile key.
So before you invest a decent amount of money on one of those products, I suggest you try out this simple key mod.

All you need is figure out how many keys you have, measure the thickness of them altogether, purchase a machine screw & nut, (I prefer #8-32 stainless), and a picture frame hanger.

Bind them together in whatever configuration that suits you, (place automobile key at one end would have better result) adjust the tightness to your liking, and apply a drop of super glue at the nut at the end. (I found super glue holds stronger than blue Loctite).

It is cheap and simple to do, almost adds no extra bulk or weight to your key-chain.

Looks like a set of keys, but it is more than that.
A small knife and two screw drivers are hidden within.

Nice idea.  I carry my keys on a carabiner with a lanyard attached.  It's basically carabiner, lanyard, keys.  I attach the carabiner to a belt loop and let the keys dangle in my pocket.  Should anyone ever determine their need for my wallet is greater than mine, then they can test that theory and face my flail of blunt and jagged metal bits.

After some testing, these drivers performed surprisingly well.
Even though they are "non-locking", but they can handle serious amount of torque, much more than when they were installed on PPP.

I really like the idea of having "Silent Keys" it has always driven me crazy hearing the messy jingle of a wad of keys when I'm walking. I really want to try this. Thanks Kampfer

Been some time since I've been here. Nice job. I need to do something like this. Jingling keys in my pocket don't bother me at all, but when my keys are in the ignition, and beating up against the steering column, I go nuts, haha.
