Title: Anyway to stop blade play in the SOG PowerAssist?
Post by: big45-70 on December 18, 2012, 05:11:23 PM
I've had the PowerAssist for acouple years now.  I enjoy it but the blade play in the plain knife blade drivers me a little crazy,  it has yet to affect function but I'd like to tighten it up.  Is there a fix to reduce or stop the blade play?

I've read elsewhere on here that the blade play on the powerassist is amost unavoidable due to the nature of the tools opening action - whilst I'm no engineer, I'm guessing the the problem lies in the springs weakness, i.e if the blade fastner is torqued up to remove the play the powerassist spring isn't strong enough to force out the blade. either that or very bad QC issues.
I bought a new one recently, thoroughly expecting bladeplay and can confirm it's there straight out of the box.
I won't buy another - that's for damn sure!!
