Nice first Wenger, Jeff.  Watch where you are walking or you might fall into the Weng....  Jeff, Jeff, can you hear me?  I tried to warn you.  What is the pit?  It's a Wenger rabbit hole.  Try not to move around too much.  I will go get the ladder.  Best wishes.  G

I've sent Aloha a post card via U.S. mail.  Hopefully he will reply here soon anyway, but if not he should get the post card in a couple of days and then he or his family will know we are thinking of him.

DAY 27

As stated yesterday, I found out that my oldest No8 was from the 1960's, so I thought I would do some comparison photos.

1960's No8 - hand stamped

1990's Inox No8 - please note that when closed the Inox No8 has a square grind to the butt end of the blade, so not an easy mod for the picnic fork and spoon

Now the No8 garden knife - the blade is thinner too.

Now the 1960s vs the 1990s - the blade stock is thicker in the stainless and my carbon steel 1990s No8's...not by much at all, but when you are really cutting hard with them in turn, it is noticable (this was before I saw the difference), I will get the caliper out....the only thing to note is that the carbon blades has a continuous draw / taper to the end point, while the stainless blade has a dramatic taper halfway down the blade

How do you throw a party in space?  You planet.
This reminds me of that:
Why do people go to the moon on holidays?
To decompress

and also
Why do people go to Switzerland to meditate?
To enter a neutral state.

We got lucky on a weird property (and, I suspect, a family that wanted to sell fast due to divorce). No other offers, and it sat on the market long enough for them to knock 15 grand off.  It's an old church, converted into 3 apartments, then into 1 house and 1 apartment. Who in their right mind wants a 150+ year old building that isn't "exactly" a house and has an apartment? You have to find a tenant, but you're not going to be rolling in dough on a converted 2 bedroom in a small town. The answer was us, because it's beautiful, and we want to move my FIL in as the tenant, so no worries about skipping on rent, wild college students, etc.

Well, maybe some wild college students, if he get's lucky. But they'll be his responsibility.

Congratulations on the house and badge awarded  :salute:
