Swiss Army Knights Forum / Re: Late 80’s black Huntsman dirt cheap

That's a sweet deal.  I always liked black scales.  I really don't mind pocket carrying a Huntsman.  It feels a little bulky in the hand, but carry one a day and it is just routine.  For me anyway.  Be sure to post a photo of the woodie when you get it.  Best wishes.  G

Swiss Army Knights Forum / Late 80’s black Huntsman dirt cheap
« Last post by Swisster on Today at 04:17:18 AM »
Just got this today from Ebay for $13 and it’s in great condition and a little bit of Flitz has this nearly looking new. Needed a beater camp knife for cheap and it’s so nice it may not end up my beater. I have a old hardwood walnut Huntsman coming from Ebay that is the old style with scale tools and I couldn’t pass it up for $25. One of these is going to be my beater for camping. I can’t complain about the price of either but I won’t ever carry a Huntsman for other than camping. Nice but to thick for EDC.

General Tool Discussion / Re: Australian Knife Laws
« Last post by Valkie on Today at 03:53:03 AM »
Australia has had a couple of deranged people wandering around attacking people over the last few weeks.

All of them have been mentally ill or belong to a gang and attacking each other.
You will all be aware of the Bondi attacks, it made the news all over the world.

But I stress, this attack and the one on the Christian preacher were done by mentally ill people, not ordinary people.

If they didnt have a knife they would have used something else
And the Bondi attacker was using a huge carving knife, not a multitool or pocket knife.

So, the response by the Australian grubberment?
Not to provide better mental health care (sadly lacking and in desperate need)
BOTH ATTACKERS HAD BEEN UNDER YEARS OF MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, WHICH WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING.

They are introducing new laws and tightening up their powers to search "ANYONE"., "anywhere", "anytime" without any cause or reason.
Recent "knee Jerk" reaction was to start using metal detectors everywhere and they are having a field day.

So, I guess the death knell of carrying even a tiny Victornox classic has been rung.
No Australian may now carry anything without being potentially charged for carrying a "WEAPON".

The next stage will be that all food will have to be sold in bite sized pieces and all household knives confiscated, because you will no longer need or be allowed to have them.
Tradesmen will have to register all tools with serial numbers and carry authorization to use them.
All tools will need to be stored in locked cabinets when not being used.

Its so sad.

Very nice.  :iagree: gee I may end up getting an older Explorer model during this challenge. That style mag lens is better, the Philips is longer, and I like the screw scissors better for maintenance.

About 10 days to go now. I’m starting a list.  Not that we really need it although I like the organization.  I think I’ve got everyone here. Included you Jeffjeeptj from your other Explorer thread.  Anyone missed or new please add yourself.

General Tool Discussion / Re: Personal Musings

Glad to have you and glad you decide to post.

I can see feelings of “intimidated” when looking at posts by people who always are using the tools or making amazing mods, but fortunately this is not that kind of group.

This group is just a bunch of people with a common interest (more like passion) for multitools, Swiss Army knives, knives in general, etc.  Doesn’t matter how many you have, type, brand, how expense, how you use, etc.  what matters is that you like them and like talking about them.  If you participate or look in on challenge threads, you will discover the entire spectrum of users.  There are those who need and use their tools often to those who just take glamour shots because they don’t need to use it.  This group even have those people who go out of their way on a challenge to find (or create) a use, just so they can use their chosen tool.

I don’t really “need” a plier based multitool in my daily life, but I still use them on occasion.  My real passion is SAKs and Traditionals (and also flashlights).  I have always carried one and find I love to use them.  I’m not a heavy user, but I get so much joy when I come across a use even if it is snipping a thread or cutting open something I could probably just rip open.

So enjoy the fun.
