This is a tool that seems ever-popular, and for good reason IMO.
It took me ages to get one, and then in a short space of time I got 2 as part of trades with other forum members here. I didn't realise until the second one arrived though, that there were two different versions, namely the Stainless Steel that crops up most often, and a Chrome Vanadium version, which I've hardly ever seen reference to.
Neither of these tools see much use since I got hold of an Atwood about a year ago, although I'm putting together a Pocket Organiser for my work bag at the moment, and I think one of these is going in there, as it's a shame to keep them in a drawer.
These pics aren't the best as I can't do much with lighting at the moment, but hopefully you can see the different finishes:

So, let's spread a little love for the "poor man's Atwood" :D
-
Where did you get it?
-
From John / GG/ UnSub. It was a surprise in a trade we did a while back.
Cool isn't it?
-
Never knew that. If I had a choice I'd take CrV over 420 anytime but this is the first time I've ever seen it.
-
Weight is virtually identical:
Stainles: 49.6g
CrV: 48.9g
... so too small to notice.
-
I google-fu'ed the name,,,,,,no joy :(
-
See? It's like it don't exist - but you have the photo evidence above :ahhh

I'm getting one with help from a member here - been after one for ages too :D
I think they're a brilliant idea!
-
I just ran to check my Pocket Wrench (bought from Lee Valley) and it's stainless steel as well. :-\
-
Lord knows where the other one can be found - that's the only supplier I've tracked down so far.
-
I'm looking to buy one for a long time now,and I sent email to Lee Valley;
They are willing to sent one to Serbia, but the postage is about $40-for a thing that costs $ 10.95 that's too much

That's sadly what stops most of us :-\
-
I had one but traded it away after getting an Atwood. Nice tools, but never got used since the Atwood arrived.

Hey, I'm not some old codger like Neil or Mike, I do remember. :D
-
Haha. I thought you would, but was really just demonstrating that I remembered myself.
2009 was quite a busy year for trading and such - I have no idea where most stuff came from

Not this side of Xmas I'm afraid, as it's all a little tight till next payday :-\
-
That's very kind of you Mike.
I don't actually need one (see the OP!), and it would probably be better if someone who wanted one would be the middle man in the UK, but if nobody volunteers - I'll do it:)
-
Thanks for the tip about the free shipping. I have wanted a stainless steel Pocket Wrench for a long time, but the shipping costs kept me from ordering -- until tonight. :tu:

That's odd, The pocket wrench should fit in a regular envelope and come in at well under 100 grams - $4.20 from my address according to the Canada post website.

I've taken to carrying the PocketWrench II instead of the Gerber Artifact. The PocketWrench II is a little easer to carry because it is flat.
I put the wrench portion to work already while repairing a mailbox and used the beveled end (flat screwdriver) to tighten a screw holding a vanity handle.
A 1/4 inch (inside diameter) rubber grommet or O-ring slipped over the hex shaft of a screwdriver bit extension prevents it from falling out of the PocketWrench II.

Has anyone seen one of these at an actual store?
-
Mine is a chrome vanadium that I picked up in a local hardware store many years ago,and I really like your idea Parnass with the o-ring or rubber grommet,I sometimes carry mine in my LM Wave nylon sheath, now I need to check if my bit extension will fit in the side also, with my black fisher space pen.
& :salute:

Wow, great spot!
Pricey though...

And sold out at the min ::)

The Pocketwrench was invented by Don Burke, Founder of Burktek. I still prize the Pocketwrench II and recently stumbled upon another source for this handy tool, Burke's own web site: http://www.pocketwrenchtool.com
There is a video clip about the Pocketwrench here (http://cordpro.com/news/).
He will ship outside the USA.

And sold out at the min ::)
And back in stock ;)

-
Thanks for the heads up Alba. :tu:
-
I just stumbled upon a whole a batch of these at a small local hardware store. $5.99 US
They are the chrome vanadium version. Nice little tool. Easy to carry.
-
Nice, if I were you I'd pick up a whole bunch, for trade if nothing else, CrV is way better than the current 420 stuff.

I modded my PocketWrenchII a year ago ... what do you think? One tool into two smaller ones. I call them the sKrench and CruciFix.

I like the skrench mod!
