G'Day,
I want to know if it is possible to change the pliers in the Wingman / Sidekick with non spring pliers? I like the tool layout but have no love for the pliers. Eyeballing the pliers' width against the PST it looks similar, but the back of the Wingman's pliers is flat where the PST is round.
Anyone tried it, or have some words of wisdom will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Pete

Hey Pete!
I have thought that too, out of curiousity, I did a little photo comparison in case this came up.
Basically, the spacing between the pivots differs too much to swap them out. In addition, the pivot holes on the Wingman pliers are smaller compared to the Fuse ones.
The 'flat' spot you are talking on the pivot is actually a cam that engages the spring on the Wingman, keeping the pliers open. The Fuse/Wave/Charge plier use a cam and a ramp to keep themselves open.
The photos should say the rest :)

Hi Metro,
Thanks for the reply. I thought that they might not fit. It is a pity though.
Then the next (dumb) question:
Is it possible to take the spring bit out without to much surgery and still have a usable pliers?
Cheers,
Pete

If I am correct, the spring is a round torsion spring burried inside the plier head, forever embedded.
No way of taking it out.

Wonder if there are any bushings that would fit or be made to fit.

I think the back spring that holds the pliers open are different.
