how?

I was cutting a bare copper 6 gauge wire. This was back in '99 and I can't quite remember exactly where on the pliers it broke but I think it was on the pivot point. I only had the Schrade for about a week when it broke. I took it back to Home Depot where I bought it and they replaced it. I have it to this day. Now I carry a LM Wave II. What a difference between the two. The Wave is so much better designed. The pliers on the Schrade do look stronger. I remember on the package it claimed they were very strong because they were layered. That only makes the tip strong, not the point where they pivot unfortunately.

leatherman once wrote my buddy that twisting the plier is abuse but they replaced it.
the schrade adjustable tools is really tough on bending or twisting.

Quality control better check on the tempering!

Looks like a problem with casting. It should be covered under warranty. Typically you don't need the invoice as your tool is definitely under 25 years of age. ::) Shoot an email to your local LM reps with a couple of pics and an explanation of how you broke the tool and they should sort you out. :tu:

The turnaround time seems consistent with what I'd expect to see from a rep without a repair department. Perhaps they just send them out to LM USA? The "if" on the other hand is a bit odd; how did you break it in the first place?

The Skele's pliers are so thin this doesnt surprise me much - they're intended for light duty.  I hope you're able to get yours repaired in a timely way.

Was removing my crankset from my bike. I pushed the pliers into the middle lockring of the the left crank arm, clamp it and twisted, snap, one broken skeletool. Was a little disappointing that it broke so easily, that said, it's only a skeletool, but still, but the quick reply back from LM makes up a little for it.
