Cheeseburger in a can?
on: May 28, 2009, 06:31:40 AM
WOW! Here is something Swiss made and in a can that you will not need your Swiss Army Knife can opener to get into. Heard about this on Jay Leno this week and finally found it on the internet.

No, believe me. It´s just disgusting. It has been discussed on German outdoor forums like the one I´m moderator at, and never got good comments. Tried one too. Has to be heated in boiling water, so can into the water, wait, open, eat. Nom, Nom, Nom - spit! (Like the Nom sounds!) Just basic - patty, pun, cheese, that´s it. No vegetables, No seasoning - bring it yourself, but you have to carry, so no lightweight trekking.

Heh.

When we go out ice climbing, we have a tradition of buying an extra breakfast sandwich (Egg, cheese and bacon on a bagel is my favorite) and dump it in the pack.  By lunch it's usually around 25-35 F (-5 to +2 C).  Rarely, if it's super cold, we'll fire up a stove to re-heat, but usually it's cold eggy goodness.

Cheeseburger in a can? I can't haz one.  :P

OK, here is where you can order it from the German website. Comes from Katadyn, a Swiss water filtration company but sold under a German marketing company.

The burger in the photo looks way different than whats really inside! Still all the other burger joints do the same thing with their fancy photo shopped photos.

What's with all the hate against Mickey D's and White Castle? There's nothing better than a Belly Bomber or Mcds french fries when you're hungover. It's too bad you can't get both at the same place.

That has to be one of the most unappetising things I've seen in a long time.  :-\  It has put me in the mood for a Big Mac though.  :)

I hear marmite is BIG over in Europe...  we have it here in some supermarkets but I've never tried it.  A salty spread of marmite on toast for breakfast does not sound appetizing. :ahhh

However, the Guiness and champagne-flavoured marmite does sound interesting.

We don't have White Castle in Canada.  :(  Ever since I saw the movie Harold & Kumar go to White Castle, I've always wanted to try some of those sliders.  :gimme:

Marmite is certainly a love/hate thing.  Personally I love it, as does my 4 year old daughter.  :D  I suspect however you have to grow up with it.  I tried the Champagne flavoured stuff and didn't really take to it, I missed the Guinness one though, that sounds promising.  :tu:

Give it a go though, while it is salty the primary flavour is yeast (it is made from beer after all).  You never know you might like it.

I think the flavor for the White Castle sliders comes from their grilled and chopped onions and meat. They are small but taste so good!

McD's fries are some of the best.  :tu:

Yeah, we don't have Krystals in Canada either.  :(  We do get a lot of Krystals commercials on TV (on the American stations) to tease us though.

And you Canadians might not have White Castle, but you DO have Tim Hortons.

Sadly it doesn't look like you have any in West Virginia.  They are basically the same as White Castle except they put mustard. pickle, and onions on the little burger and I believe WC its just onions and pickle.
