SOG Contractor Series
on: January 21, 2011, 04:23:45 AM
I felt like I needed another look at these, after the quick photos I took the other day, so I went back to SOG today and snapped some more.

Contractor Knife I:

Contractor Knife II:

Contractor Knife III:

Contractor Knife IV:

These are pretty nice knives, but not too nice to get dirty!

Coping blade!!  :tu: I really like the look of those. Think I'll need the first three.

Nice looking blades - what size is that last one, karambit shaped model?

Well, they look nice :)  It'll be interesting to hear peoples reports on usage.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

The cutout on the spine of the second blade is to allow the user to access the nail nick on the spear point.  It wouldn't make much sense to be anywhere else.

I never really cared for them, preferring the (US made and cheaper) Kutmaster made Kleins. However, I'm beginning to re-think that, as I really like the Contractor III, as no other maker has done a double-lockback TL-29-type knife . A knife store near me still has the whole series, so I think I'll pick that one up.  I can find nothing on 6Cr12MOV steel, and am wary of it.

Klein has a tactical-looking Japan made hawkbill that has both OHO and a clip, with AUS-8 steel.  While I focus on the Kutmaster made ones, I have a Japanese made Sportsman's knife, and it's built as good, if not better than the similar looking Buck.
