Another unidentified knock off
on:
April 16, 2011, 10:33:45 PM
I got these questionable SAK copy in the mail yesterday. I normally stay away from anything that does not come close to the quality that the Swiss put into their knives, BUT It was the can opener that got my attention. Has anyone seen this style of knife before?

Interesting can opener design. I like it. I have never seen it before but I have come across some knives marked with "Rostnever" on it. Not all that good of quality.

I am adding the blade marking to jog a few minds that are smarter than me.

"Rostnever" doesn't sound Chinese
Any idea where it was made?

I "cringed" when had to pay $20.oo Canadian for it plus shipping. Not the best quality in the word.

Shame the $20 did not include shipping , that would of made it more palatable

That can opener looks a little ugly. I have used my Victorinox can opener and I think it must be one of the best pocket knife can openers ever, I doubt that the cheap knock-off can opener would work as well as the Victorinox one. My Farmer only cost US$25 on special from Amazon - I think that it is good enough value that it isn't worth bothering with cheap knock-offs.

I just got a "Rostnever" Spartan, late 50's style. Will post pics.

Here's are my newly acquired Sak-alikes . One stamped ISC STAINLESS GERMANY, the other stamped simply ROSTNEVER
It's CRAZY how close the black one is to a Camper, all the tools are shaped the same as Vic. I don't own a pre'61 Tourist so I don't how the red one compares, but I think it's further away from Vic than the black one.

The ISC is Imperial Schrade Corp. They were made by Adler of Germany. Decent knives and very close copies of Victorinox.
