How does one de-anodise lights then?

with my l0p-se, i started the de-anodizing process with sandpaper. :twak:

a better method is to use lye/caustic soda. just dip the flashlight in lye, wait a few minutes/hours and the anodizing will come right off. ;)

this is what it looked like in its past 'life'.

My H31 finally came in. I was surprised of the hotspot it generates but I love it. Much better tint than the ultrafire I carry at work now. Might have to do a shoot-out when the 14500's show up for the UF. The light off a AA is not disappointing though.

BeerPlumber,

I purchased the H31 (cr123) and love the torch. It's amazing how useful it is. I didn't think I would like the pocket clip, but I do not mind it at all. I added a neo magnet and trit dot in the self-sealing rivet.

I have to say the pocket clip is fast becoming my favourite feature. It's so much faster and easier than putting it in the silicone holder. Where have these lights been all my life. I'll never hold a light in my teeth again. The strap is still good for extended periods of hands free light but for EDC the pocket clip is a must have. Don't get me started about the super fun fiddle factor of the UI. Clicky goodness mmmm...

I love the ZL UI too - most innovative.

Sam Q - where did the little trit bead come from?

Nuphoria- The dot came from a Trijicon night sight for a small pistol. I grind the tiny bit of metal away to free the tritium vial and "recycle" it. It's the only legal way I know of obtaining trit in the states. Ironic really. I can walk into a shop that legally sells automatic weapons, of any caliber, but can't buy a micro dot of tritium.  ???  ::)

BeerPlumber- the ZL H31 clip does not look very solid in pictures. But it is very solid and adjustable. I agree with you, it's a must for EDC. I like to twist the clip on the ZL body and use it on a ballcap brim for long term wear. Works great. The anodizing is really tuff too. :)

Since 9-11 tritium is a little harder to find. Plus the nuclear commission doesn't like the buying, selling, or trading of anything nuclear. I know for I asked the commission directly. They were nice about it though.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

These are my EDC's. Mini Maglite that I bought 15 years ago, upgraded with Terralux led and tail cap switch. Second one is Xeno E03 ( http://www.flashlightreviews.ca/E03.htm ) with 14500 Li-ion. Awesome budget flashlight.
