Leather Side Shields for Sunglasses / shades
on: August 20, 2014, 04:33:25 PM
So my mother once told me how my father had a pair of 'teashades' (john lennon) back in the late 70's with as she described it 'leather cups to stop sunlight coming in the sides' and over the many years that have since past i  have always desired a pair.

Only this last week i discovered that they are commonly referred to as 'Side Shields' and now i'm curious if anyone here knows a good method of making these so i can make something suited to my face. I really want to avoid china junk and am finding it difficult to find a quality shade with side shields. I have a pair of police brand shades that are rectangular 'mafioso' type look basically a rectangular style of 'teashades' that i know suits my face so after a few practice runs i might be brave to try on them or buy a pair of quality round teashades for the task.

I have something pretty much the same, mine also have a shield in the center, there called mountaineer glasses, mine are made by julbo, I used to have a cheaper pair that I got from an army navy store but couldn't find, but I gotta have something that covers as much as possible cause I can't stand bright light, well that and due to medical.. The only thing I've found are plastic side shields for protection, even ones that are smoke color, but nothing leather, I'm guessing due to the fact that the leather ones need something to clip to on the frame, unlike the plastic which just slides on the arms, keep us posted on anything you find! I wear glasses so no sunglass for me, but if I didn't, I'd get a pair of these. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=70788&cat=1,42207,42216

Probably not what you are looking for though.  :D

I can imagine those safety goggles would be akin to looking through a couple of toilet paper rolls.
