LM Serac lights; your opinions please!
on: March 24, 2009, 12:38:56 AM
Hey guys, what do you think of the LM lights?

Personally, I LOVE the S2. It's a perfect companion in the premium LM sheaths and it's decently bright!

Well if I had 1 I am sure I would be telling you about them :D

They look great to me but I think I will have to wait for Father's Day to get a flashlight that costs over $20 dollars :D

I love my S2, it goes everywhere with me.  I might try and take an S1 for a test spin and see what I think of it.

The S2 and S3 seem to get all the raves, but the S1 should be a good light as well (think of it as a Fenix E01 with a click switch).

Basically you are getting Fenix quality, a product backed by Leatherman, plus the bonus of being able to walk into a B&M store and buying one (or purchasing online from your favorite vendor(s)).

Same here - and I shall get an S2 when a sensible deal and available cash coincide.

I take my S3 everywhere now.
I used to come here a lot.

Just got an S2. Little thing is pretty damn bright.

Now I'm thinking a 2XAA or 2X123 would be nice for when I need a real light. What are some good ones? I've seen the LD20, and TK10, are there any others I should be considering?

Yup if you like these LM lights your going down the right track and looking at Fenix. The LD20 and TK series of lights are great lights! Also have you considered the PD series of lights?

Never had the pleasure to handle a Leatherman light but looking at the specs it looks like you'd be better of with a Fenix light

Those are CR123 lights, correct? Single and dual cell?

"Humanized design" eh? As opposed to robit design?

Yup CR123 they be,
PD20 or P2D = 1 Cell
PD30 or P3D = 2 Cell

The major difference between the PD20/30 and the P2D/P3D is -

*Anti Roll feature
*Better knurling(even thought there is very little in this model)
*New butt cap(this is where I made the decision between the old or new models, I picked old because the switch in the new design would be easy to actuate)
*Minor tweaks to circuit

I think that's it!
