Got my first mate today which is my first alox knife. I have to say, I love the build quality and can see myself getting a few more of these. The 3 layers make it feel excellent in the hand and the tools are tough and sturdy too. I can see how the finish wearing off might bug some folks but I intend to to carry a silver one I think - I need a harvester as a user to sling around on my allotment.

Don't get me wrong, the cellidor certainly has a place and I will continue to use and buy them, but right now I am a bit in love with this thing  :D

Now I feel really fricking old! If it wasn't for the fact that the first mate and my lovely paratool from Kwakster arrived today (both early birthday presents), I would resent the age thing even more  ::)

Freakin' children!  Shouldn't be allowed to play with knives.  At 47, I don't think I've lost much since 30.  Still running 6:45 miles, hiking, climbing, and riding motorcycles.  Heck, my son is 25 this year, we ran a marathon together about 4 years ago.

Age ain't nuthin' but a number...

(Lyric from Middle aged blues boogie--not from the Album of the same name)

I will be 38 in a couple of weeks... shouldn't grumble really, just lamenting my carefree youth  :-\

Thank you for the early birthday though (and the sending of marvellous shinies through the post!)  :D
