That's pretty amazing considering the pilot run doesn't start until next week.

My guess is either this seller is full of squishy brown stuff, this is a prototype or they are pre-selling them in hopes of getting the money now before they hit the street and the prices come down.

Before anyone gets excited, I'd say this isn't a prototype since the handles are cut wrong.  You'll notice on the protos I have:

That the outer scale on the "bit driver" handles is still cut "short" where the production model will be extended to the end of the liners.  All of the prototypes I saw at the show were like the ones I have.  Unless this is a newer, pre production model, I don't see this actually being in stock yet.  Leatherman also doesn't have a policy of allowing pre-production models to be sold.

I dunno if this point has been missed, but the Freestyle isn't in production yet.

This eBay one is likely an advance model from a pilot run, produced and distributed for photos and advertising.

Rob from eLeatherman probably listed them in the store to start generating returns from Google, and listed them as "Sold Out" since they aren't yet in stock, and the software he uses likely doesn't have a "Not yet in stock" option.

Dang you must be a mind reader.  That is exactly why we list things so soon, gets the search engines indexing sooner and the site isn't capable of displaying both coming soon and sold out status.  There is a notice on the bottom of the two pages that state the Freestyle isn't shipping from LM until late May.  Maybe I should move that up the page so people notice it better.  I'm really curious about this auction so if anyone here wins it be sure and let us know.  It's always cool to have something so soon before it's available on the street.

I work with several different pieces of software, so I know how they think!

BTW, the folks at LM aren't too happy about this either.  As this is a family forum I can't print the actual response I got from them, but I think it's safe to say they are not amused.

At least they have the option to get it back off the open market!  I think LM has the capital to spend a few bucks on one of their own tools. :D

Then it's time to plug up the leaks >:D

Dang that seems cheap for a tool not even available yet which will sell for around that once released.  Did anyone here scoop it up?

Tough break RM :( I hate when I lose something by just a dollar and would rather lose something  by ten and make me at least think I didn't want it for that price :D Maybe when they come out you'll get 1 cheaper than that :tu:

Im a little disappointed the more i think of it. I wish I would have stayed up for it. I wanted something a little different than what I had but I guess I will have to wait for the Mass produced ones to come out.
