Perkele is a god in Finnish mythology, whose identity was that of a God of Thunder. Perkele was referred to with a variety of names, including Ukko, meaning "an old man", "Lars", meaning shortness, and Ylijumala, meaning "the supreme god." The name is of Indo-European origin. Related gods are known in Latvia (Pērkons), Lithuania (Perkunas), Prussia (Percunis), Poland (Perkun, Perun, or Perkwunos), Russia (Perun) and Slovenia (Parkelj).

Perkele is also a common swearword in Finnish, meaning Satan. This connotation was coined in the Finnish translation of the Bible. It was used up until 1933/38 translation. 1992 translation uses word "paholainen" (devil).[citation needed] The use of "perkele" in the Bible aimed at demonizing Finnish gods.

Yeah it was a savage war :(, I remember listening to a lady veteren, who simply said that ''We Finns can never be beaten, because we have the spirit of the Puuko in out veins'' she then pulled out a 60 year old, well look after Puuko and went into great detail of how she stabbed a Russian soldier with it :o, Brave lady :salute:

well thats why i cant stand those here who choose not to go the army at all, theyre bunch of lame bums to me.he__,i think that its a shame, that our tradition of all capable men to serve, has gone to"u choose" thingy.they should have  their basic rights and passports taken away.its ok if youre injured, cripple or something, but if u just are lazy hippie that believes hugging russians saves our land when thay come......then our forefathers died for nothing.

u gotta have some backbone and pack a set of balls and defend your land if u are man at all  :D

Thanks, that was in March when the flooding hit my town. Luckily we haven't had too much trouble lately, although we're still getting quite a bit of rain.

Yeah, you'd get the rain, then I would get it about 12 hours later...

We don't have too much general flooding left, but the Mississippi is really swollen right now and the folks in the flood plain are getting hit pretty badly.

I know food prices are going to continue to rise. All of the farmers I know are saying they can't even get into their fields. It never stops raining long enough for the ground to dry.
