I love the look of these but man they're pricey.  I've just broke a set of Stanley needle nose today working on my bike. I think the crunch would be a good addition to my saddle bag

Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

The Chinese have copied them, I picked up one for  £10 from a stall at a motoring event some years ago. It doesn't have any name/logo on it but it's pretty identical otherwise, it clamps etc well enough.

Just playing with my Crunch today, and the lock tab pin is falling out.  One side of the head is obviously wider than the other, but the other side is not properly 'riveted'(like a SAK).

Now my question is, I am not in the States, bring this back to local distributor is probably a long and costly wait.  Since I am planning to do some SAK mods anyway, all my tools and materials should be in place pretty soon, should I rivet this with a new pin myself?  Has anyone else done this fix in the past?  The pin size is ~2.4mm(which I could probably grind down one of the SAK pivot to match this)

Nasty I haven’t had a problem with the pin
But I wonder if you could still use the original pin
and use a centre punch to peen the pin in place
Hope someone else would be able to help you comis  :tu:

Not recommended, u need the pin to be longer initially in order not to damage the frame I believe.

That's a pretty good suggestion, I upload another photo for everyone's reference.  I don't know whether there is enough material to hold it though.  :dunno:

You mean the center punch will push too much material and deform the frame?  I think that's a valid concern, but aren't the original pin was held in place by this very same method?

That’s what it looks like they have done used a centre punch
But I don’t know if it will work or not trying it again  :dunno:
I can’t see why it would damage the frame but I am no expert

I would try to center punch method first and if that doesn't work then maybe a piece of pin stock would work  of course brass pin stock is a lot less stiff and may bend on you  I would try something definitely before the option of sending it in if it were me :salute:

Thanks Poncho!  I think I would do just that.  Unless I drop the tool or use a toothpick to push it out, the pin is temporarily sitting in there alright.  Worst case scenario, I would do a temp fix with brass pin while looking for nickel silver pin.

Hope you like it!  I always think this tool is one of the more unique tool out there, and a perfect companion to a SAK or even a Plier-based MT.
