Irish or Kentucky... both excellent choices.  :like:

Carried the A100 again today. Pouch got hung up a couple times on its end. Nothing really too noticeable but the extra length of the pouch does snag occasionally.
No usage today so thought I’d cover a feature the Crunch does not have; the release lever. This little lever is found on most dedicated locking pliers and allows you to release the pliers when they are locked really tight. On the A100, the lever takes up a tool slot, but on its own pivot close to the plier head. Lifting the lever presses the handles open, even when the pliers are locked super tight.
The pics below show this feature and the good engineering used for the tightening mechanism.

3rd day EDC carry for the A100. Used it to tighten a irrigation fitting. Can’t carry on the belt from Monday (office), so this mini-challenge is now finished. Here are my comments comparing the A100 to the Crunch:

A100 Pros:
- bigger, stronger jaws
- always ready
- more, larger tools
- great OHO blade

A100 Cons:
- too long for pocket carry
- difficult to use drivers
- discontinued and no factory support

A100 Comments:
Very well-made product that is only let down by its length that restricts it to pouch or bag carry.

Crunch Pros:
- very compact
- tools individually lock
- still in production
- warranty cover on used models

Crunch Cons:
- fiddly to deploy pliers
- jaws a little small
- blade and file too short
- blade edge obstructed when open

Crunch Comments:
Ingenious folding design a masterpiece of engineering. Modeled on the 4in length of the PST (same era), it probably would benefit from being 1/2in longer to scale up the jaws and tools a little.

Bottom Line:
The Crunch is a truly pocketable MT, and even if the pliers and tools are a little small, it’s still extremely capable and versatile. So while the A100 is technically a better pair of pliers with better tools, it’s the Crunch that will be easier for EDC. But for car carry or bag use, the A100 will be a better choice. A good reason to have both.

Great write up Max  :like: :tu:
If I ever find A 100 for sale I would definitely buy one
It does look a very capable tool and
would be great to have in the car glove box
Or under the seat of my motorbike

Nice combo, Steve.

Great photo as usual wspeed.  I’ve been meaning to ask about the pocket clip on your Crunch.  Is it a mod you did?
