Thanks Theo :hatsoff:

My guess is that the Crunch's Phillips wasn't designed to take the RBD and it fits by accident.
Either way, they mention them as being compatible on their website:

I have never paid attention that the Crunch is listed in the tools that are compatible :o It came out years before the RBD and I am sure it is coincidence that it fits at all :salute: or maybe not :dunno: ??? :D

Hi,

New here, could I ask a real simple question about the crunch please? It might be in the huge thread somewhere and if it is I apologise in advance.

Can the crunch be disassembled for maintenance / mod? I noticed it's got what looks like screw-heads with knurled edges where others might accept an allen key and I wondered if this meant you could undo them?

Sorry if this is obvious but I don't own a crunch yet and I'm trying to learn what I'm getting into before parting with $$$.

Cheers

Welcome to :MTO:

Yes, they can be taken apart to a point and a few of our members have modded them with different tools and even pocket clips :tu:

The knurled screws are proprietary but you can get wrenches that are made for those :salute: we have a member here (loki_mobile) that sells them :tu:

Great, thanks for that, I’m thinking it will make a capable addition to the motorcycle toolkit without adding weight and bulk :-)

I like my Crunch.  :tu: It's nice & compact, and when you really need locking pliers nothing else will do.

Hello all,

My Crunch has two halves dated around 4 years apart. Normal?
The side the jaws recess into is 0414 while the side the various tools recess into is 0518.

No, the expectation is that there's a pause in production.

I believe that they only make so many a year because they have to change some of the machines to make it

That is normal for a lot of Leatherman  :salute: Kinda cool though :like:

And welcome to :MTO:

Thanks for the info and the welcome Poncho.
I thought it was a little unusual seeing as though my Charge TTi handles are both the same (0513).
