Crunch owner here as well! No longer carry it everyday due to funny looks I kept getting when I'd flip it when I was bored.  :multi: It's since moved over to the BOB due to it's hex driver, & ability to be used as a makeshift sawzall/hacksaw/any other saw blade handle.

There's a dome shaped cover over the plier head pivot. Does anyone know why it's there, if it's removeable and what kind of fixing is underneath it?

(Hoping not to derail this thread, and I'm sure the mods will sort me if I do!)

how do you put a saw on it? just grip it with the pliers?

Thread follows, but if I've messed up the cut and paste, a search of the Mod Squad section using Sawzall brings it up

Yep, but I grip it vetically, using the pin cutout in the upper jaw.

I too own a Crunch.  I have had it since 2000.  It comes in really handy at a junk yard to compliment my ST200.  For example, 3/8" bolts with locknuts (9/16" head size) are impossible to remove without a backup wrench.  The ST200 generally will not allow enough force break loose the nut by itself.  The Crunch will grip the nut, turn it, and the ST200 serves as the backup wrench.  Worked great on 6 rusty bolts.

This came in handy at the junkyard where they do NOT allow you to bring your own tools and pull your own parts.  Stealthy tools.  The kid working there did not mind a little help.  :multi:

I want to be a Crunch Owner but sadly am not  :(

Prices in the UK are excluding me from this club! I got bargains on my Wave and Squirt S4 but the Crunch is a push too far.

Perhaps I'll start a Crunch Owners Wannabe Thread  :gimme:

Best of crunchness to all Crunch owners  :salute:

Interestingly, Whitby seem to have dropped the Crunch fro their catalog too, so UK retailers won't be able to get any more.

Your best bet is to get one from the US. Even with shipping and duties, you'll be quids in. eLeatherman.com always has competitive deals and is a supporter of this forum too.
I used to come here a lot.

Thanks Dave
My local DIY diy shop has one, I never asked about price but his other Leathermans are standard RRP

The site you recommended has the Crunch at $69-95, approx £43 in real money  :D Shipping is $26 = £16. Is this a good deal? What are the duties?

If customs pick it up (and you should assume they will to be safe) you'll be looking at 17.5% duties (I make that £10.33) and a statutory £8 fee to the courier / post office. So £43 + ££16 + £10 + £8 = £77 all in. Of course, if one of our kind US members would act as a middle man for you and provide "customs friendly" paperwork - that could reduce considerably. Just saying.

The going rate online over here seems to be about £90 inc delivery at the moment. (e.g. http://www.shop4leatherman.co.uk/leatherman_crunch.html).

Thanks for your help with this Dave. I think I may investigate with my local DIY shop first. It's a shame UK ebay doesn't allow them.

Sorry for the poor quality, it was a spur of the moment shot on my phone.

Just had to fix a router, the crunch made an excellent helping hands to hold bits than needed tinning.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I'm not any more.  These days I'm a full time dad :)

Old habits die hard though and most of my kit is cheap / free just because no one seems to know how to wield a soldering iron these days ;)

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
