Found this old-timer at a local outdoorstore today, it had been sitting there since 1999, waiting for me to come along ...

And I got it at a 50% discount  :D.

Now that I can compare my new (bought it a couple of months ago, came with new style nylon Leatherman sheath but still had date codes from 2013) Crunch with an older version ('99) I must say the old one feels better ...

On the new one I have to open the pliers with my hands when I open it up, but on the old one, all I have to do is turn the screw at the end of the handle and the pliers open up themselves, they snap open by spring force, never knew this was the case since my "new" one has no spring force in the pliers whatsoever.

Is my new one (the 2013 version) defective, or is it just something that changed during the years ?

After oiling it up and playing with it for a while I got a bit of a snap back in it ... (this sound so wrong  ::)).

I was talking about the pliers of my youngest Crunch, but it's still very weak compared to the pliers on the old timer I bought today, guess it's just one of those things that can go wrong at the Leatherman factory these days ...  :-\
