Is the Skeletool CX pocketable?

I EDC a Charge TTi and I love it. It's my every day carry during all my work hours but I tend not to carry it when I am home, and I definitely don't carry it in social situations. What I am looking for is the best tool to carry in my pocket without a pocket clip. I want a tool that will sit in the bottom of my pocket without too much weight and something with a fairly low profile. My feature criteria are as follows: pliers, knife blade (small), phillips driver. Any other features that exist within a small footprint are a plus.

Does anyone carry a Skeletool like this?

Any other suggestions for a smaller but tough and versatile tool that can be comfortable pocket carried? I am also considering a Leatherman Juice.

Any suggestions form other manufacturers are welcome as well.

I would say it is pocketable. But a juice would me more so(depending on the Juice model). If you don't need a OH blade I would pick the Juice. Or wait a couple months for the Freestyle to come out. Should be a lot more pocketable than the Skeletool.

I've been using the biner, not the pocket clip. I love carrying it this way. Keeps it in the perfect spot.

I think the best thing that some manufacturer ever came out with was the pocket clip. I don't own a Skeletool so can't really comment on it in particular but I think your in the right area given what you've mentioned your looking for. I do though have a juice s2 and it comes with a little sheath which is quite nice, lots better than the full size sheaths used to house bigger tools. But, I could not see comfortably carrying around a juice for very long "in pocket." It has no clip so it's going to like most knives bottom out in your pocket and poke you here and there and generally be a bother which may take an hour, maybe a day, or if lucky a week. The smallest knife I have ever comfortably carried was the tiny swiss army one's (can't remember names) and even it became a pain especially when you mix in coin and whatever else is loose in pocket. That brings me back to tools/knives with clips. I can carry a big knife with a clip (like recon 1 cold steel) without too much trouble. It stays put and when you sit down it's in quite a natural position as to not cause discomfort. Now thats a big folder around the 5 inch mark closed.
I think the skeletool is not that big so I think I would go with that one if you were asking me my opinion. Anyhow thats my 2 cents worth.

Yes it is, question of pocketability is a question how much you could tolerate, I heard that someone is pocket carrying a SURGE.

While that would be the most sensible answer, everyone's level of tolerance being different, I have a feeling that most people would not find the skeletool comfortable for pocket carry.

Unless your jeans/trousers are baggy as a clown's, the tendency for tools to sit horizontally in pockets will make it impossible for you to sit down with your skeletool without first adjusting the orientation. And if you ask me, you don't want to be seen putting your hand in your pocket and adjusting "something" everytime you need to take a seat.

Yup you are correct tolerance in the question, how much a guy could tolerate. Hope this helps, I tolerate pocket carrying the charge better than the skeletool because of the charge smooth side but if I opted for lightness I carry the skeletool.

For pocket carry the Skeley is nice as long as clipped

but a Juice might be better for just pocket carry

I am actually considering something with a pocket clip now. I never carried a pocket clip multi or knife because i thought that it would block easy access to the pocket for keys and such. I put a pocket clip on a charge today and I found that if you slide it far to the side you can use the pocket.

If you're considering a pocket clip after all, I'd have a think about a Sideclip. More features than the Skeletool, and slimmer so you can still get your hand in your pocket.

They are a bit tricky to come by these days, but it may be exactly what you are looking for. The Skeletool is a great tool, but you specifically said small knife, and the blade on a Skeletool is a comparative beast!

I'd stick with a pocket clip for just about anything I'd consider pocket carrying, both because it keeps the tool handy, and also because it keeps the tool form the bottom of your pocket where lint and other crapola is waiting to gather in the joints and screw up any moving parts.

At the risk of having the Leatherman Forum Mods get mad at me for going OT, you could also try checking out the Zilla and/or Zilla Jr, which would also fill your needs.

Funny you should mention that. As soon as I attached the pocket clip to my Charge Ti and put it in my pocket, I started thinking about all the chatter I have read about here on Multitool.org. People sure love those things.

I have never held or seen a Sideclip in the wild and never really considered it, but now that I'm looking for a small footprint multi, for in pocket carry, with pliers, knife and phillips head the Sideclip is looking like a great option.

The only thing stopping me now is the cost of a Sideclip, and the rarity. I'm not likely to find anyone willing to trade one so I'm going to be trolling Ebay looking for one.

Do like I did and modify a PST with a Kick clip and you have a good all around tool. Its not difficult and would save you a lot of change. Then if you really want a SideClip you can hold out for a good deal.

That's probably your best bet, unless you can find 19 other interested parties, and I can arrange another group buy

I might be able to take a few off the guy, but in low quantities they're obviously not so attractively priced.

These are located in the UK right? I didn't pay enough attention to the original group buy because I thought you were all daft for wanting one (for some reason writing "UK" in a sentence made me want to use the word "daft", love that word).

I have no idea what shipping would cost but I'm interested if this group buy materializes.
