You can't find better value for the money, steel is aus8-ish, gets razor sharp but doesn't hold it as long as super steels.

the Cara Cara in G-10 is sweet! the frn is okay but feels
cheap, I'd suggest the G-10, but they are a good value, I've
never heard/read a bad thing about them.

I've got a Cara Cara in SS and I've no complaints.  Takes a good enough edge and the build quality is excellent for the cost.  Let us know what you get.

I found this on the Cara Cara (which looks like a nice knife)  http://cutleryscience.com/reviews/cara_cara.html

Ok thanks very much you guys.  My only hesitation on getting the G-10 Byrd is that the Spyderco Tenacious with g-10 is only about 7 bucks more.

I LOVE my Byrd knife. I have a Meadowlark with the FRN handle. It's a great knife and holds an edge great. Not as long as one of the "super steels" but still very respectable.

I have two Byrds, both Meadowlarks. One has FRN handle and the plain "rescue" blade, the other has SS handles and is part serrated.

They are good little knives, but I do prefer the Tenacious (even though it bit me).

I used to come here a lot.

I was also undecided on the Tenacious and Byrd Raven but I eventually decided on the Raven because I like the look of the blade.  As jzmtl mentioned, excellent quality for the money.

Here's my G10 Raven:

I now have 3 byrd knives the raven, meadowlark, and cara, cara.  I have been taking the raven to work with me everyday for the last month or so.  I have to touch up the edge every 3 days or so but I am cutting/using it quite a bit during the course of a day cutting boxes open and such.  I bought the aluminum handled version with the black coating on the blade.  It's holding up remarkably and is not scratching off yet. For the money they are great value.  When it starts to wobble and go on me I just might buy a Syderco Native in S 30 V and take it to work.
