You have to decide what kind of battery you want to run first. Any of the new cree versions should be plenty bright enough.

I have mostly Inova, Streamlight, and Surefire flashlights... I think the T1 is what I may buy!

T1 is big, heavy, probably more so than you expect. It also doesn't have a low level if you want one.

I love my LOD Q4 I picked up from the Fenix Store. Every time I use it or show it off I'm amazed how bright such a small, AAA powered light it is.

Are you planning to run CR123a, AA or AAA batteries?

I personally would buy a Lumapower M1 over the Fenix T1 if you're going the CR123a route.

Sounds like it would be a perfect partner for the SURGE!!! :P

Seroiusly I like the Fenix L2D. It uses standard AA batteries, and if you want to go the CR123A route, you can get a P2D body and use the same head. The thing I don't like about fenix lights is that they have all those different modes. I like my lights to have 2 modes: on and off.

In that case, I must agree with Carthas that the L2D is the way to go.  IMHO, there is no better 2xAA light on the market.  As mentioned, you can buy extra bodies for it to run on 1xAA or 1xCR123a, so it is quite versatile.

An L2D with a Cree Q5 emitter is an excellent light.

+1 for the L2D! great light. we got L1D bodies for ours so we can use just 1AA.

How does the 1D compare to the 2D? I've been thinking of picking up the 1D body to make my 2D a bit more compact when space is at a premium.

The L1D body is great for EDC.  You basically lose "turbo" mode--it's still there, but it's no brighter than "high".  Runtime of course is less with one AA vs. two also.

I use the L2D, L1D and P2D bodies with mine, and I really like them all.  The P2D body requires a different tailcap, so it's a bit more expensive to go that route.

Cheers, i wouldn't bother getting the P2D, i don't want to start using CR123's. The L1D does looks quite tempting.....next time i'm feeling flush i'm getting one!

I too am looking at a FENIX to replace some SF 6P-LED's. ( I have 100 CR123's from work so I'll stick with them)

I'm looking at a P3D-Q5 ( 4 Sevens WWW site has them for $58 with free shipping ).

The TK11-Q5 also looks pretty good at $72 with free shipping

Also the TA30 looks interesting ( mulit-output options ) for $83

Anything else in the Fenix line I should be looking at - LED / CR123 variety

I did just get a new style SF-L4 LUMAMAX ( 120 lumens ) from work , but still need some others for work.

The PD20 and 30 are both fine torches.  I've got a pair of PD20s - one lives in the car the other lives in my pocket.  You could consider the TK11 R2, but its a fair few extra quid (dollars/yen/francs etc :D ) for a relatively minor increase in output.

Have you tried any Olights?  I've recently got myself an M20 warrior and am very pleased with it.  The Olight T20 is another good Cr123 torch.

Rich.

They don't appear to be making the TK-11 R2's anymore according to update posts on several sites.

The new Fenix TA-30 looks interesting ???

They do.  I've not got one myself, but I like the ability to select the output level precisely before turning on the torch.  They also look the business :D

Powered by three CR123 - a little different to the norm but gives it a good runtime even on high output.  Be sure to give us a quick review if you do get one.

Rich.

10-4, I just sold my SF  6P-LED's and ordered both a P3D and a TA30 from www.4sevens.com  8% discount with code  CPF8  and FREE SHIPPING

The review on the P3D is pretty impressive

My favorite Fenix other then the LD01 is the P1D CE.   Very small for a 123 light and very bright.
